The Canadian national anthem has been booed at an ice hockey clash between Canada and Finland in Boston.
It is apparent payback for the US anthem being booed at an earlier match between the North American rivals, which continues a trend since Donald Trump declared he wanted to make the northern neighbours USA's "51st state".
Canada beat Finland 5-3 to set up a finale against Team USA in Boston on Friday (AEDT).
The Canadian national anthem has been booed by ice hockey fans in Boston at the 4 Nations Face-Off in apparent payback for the jeering of The Star-Spangled Banner in Montreal last week.
The Canadian team received a louder but still mixed greeting during the introductions before its game against Finland, with the exception of Boston Bruins star Brad Marchand, who received a more hearty welcome from the Massachusetts massive.
The Finns were met with mostly silence.
Before the anthems were played, the public address announcer asked "that you kindly respect the nation, its inhabitants and the players that represent each country".
While the crowd, which featured many fans in the red Canadian sweaters, sang along to O Canada, a few audible boos could also be heard.

Fans across Canada have booed the US anthem at NHL and NBA games since President Donald Trump said he wanted to make the northern neighbours "the 51st state".
Trump also threatened tariffs against the longtime ally.
The Canadian fans drowned out any negativity with cheers when star Connor McDavid scored just 4 minutes into the game and they barely stopped, jumping out to a 4-0 lead before settling for a 5-3 win.
The victory sent Canada into a final clash against the United States, once again in Boston.
As if their rivalry on the ice needed any more fire, it was reignited by Sunday's (AEDT) showdown where the US anthem was loudly booed by many fans in the sellout crowd of 21,105 at Montreal's Bell Centre.

That spilled onto the ice as soon as the puck was dropped, with American power forward Matthew Tkachuk asking Brandon Hagel to drop the gloves and the fourth-line Canada winger engaging in the fight 2 seconds in.
Brother Brady Tkachuk did the same with Sam Bennett the moment the puck was dropped on the ensuing face-off 3 seconds in.
US centre JT Miller cross-checked Canada defenseman Colton Parayko and the two went at it to make it a trio of bouts in the opening seconds.
The old-school pugilism did not go great early for the US, with the Tkachuks in the penalty box for the first 5 minutes, but they came back to win the game 3-1.
