Canada men's hockey live updates: Where to watch Olympic game vs Switzerland – USA Today

Team Canada men’s hockey’s quest for an Olympic gold medal continues on Feb. 13.
Canada will play Switzerland in the second of its three 2026 Winter Olympics preliminary matchups in Group A. The nine-time gold medal-winning team is already at the top of its group after winning its first game in convincing fashion.
The Canadians opened their run for a 10th gold medal at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Games with a dominant 5-0 win over Czechia. Macklin Celebrini, Mark Stone, Bo Horvat, Nathan Mackinnon and Nick Suzuki all scored while goalkeeper Jordan Bennington kept a clean sheet to open the tournament.
Canada’s win gave them three points in the standings and its plus-5 goal differential puts the Canadians just ahead of Switzerland (plus-4 GD) at the top of the Group A leaderboard. Team Canada will get the chance to take a commanding lead in their Feb. 13 head-to-head clash with the Swiss.

Canada is unable to add to its lead on its second power play of the game. Both teams are now 1-for-2 on power plays in this matchup.
Swiss defenseman Michael Fora called for high sticking. Canada gets its second two-minute power play of the game.
The 19-year-old has a goal in each of Canada’s games in the 2026 Olympic tournament so far. Nathan MacKinnon assisted the No. 1 pick from the 2024 NHL Draft on his goal less than one minute after Canada returned to full strength.
Canada 3, Switzerland 1
Switzerland was unable to capitalize on their second power play of the game.
Shea Theodore called for tripping. Switzerland has a two-minute power play early in the second period.
Canada leads, 2-1.
The Canadians got two early goals from their two biggest stars: Connor McDavid and Sidney Crosby. A high sticking penalty in the back half of the first period led to a Switzerland power play goal bu Pius Suter, cutting Canada’s lead to one goal.
Canada’s Crosby-Stone-Marner line had a few opportunities to score late in the first period, but Akira Schmid managed to turn them away to keep Switzerland within one.
Suter, whom Horvat hit in the mouth with his high stick to start the power play, scores Switzerland’s first goal of the game after Dean Kukan’s shot deflected off of the crossbar. Kukan and Sven Andrighetto are credited with assists on the first goal Canada has conceded in the tournament (two games).

Canada’s Bo Horvat was called for high sticking. Switzerland will get a two-minute power play with nine minutes left in the first period.
Connor McDavid gets his second point of the game – and the period – with an assist on Harley’s goal. Tom Wilson was also credited with an assist.
Canada 2, Switzerland 0
Sidney Crosby had the puck on a breakaway and was 1-on-1 with Swiss goaltender Akira Schmid. Schmid managed to kick the puck off of his left skate while on his stomach for the save. Still 1-0 Canada.
McDavid scored just seconds after the start of Canada’s power play. He was assisted by Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar.
Canada 1, Switzerland 0
Swiss defenseman Dean Kukan was whistled for a tripping penalty. Canada will have a two-minute power play.
