Lexi Cammarata scored all three goals to power Wallkill Valley to a 3-2 victory over Pope John in Hamburg.
Cammarata got the scoring started for Wallkill Valley (1-1) in the first quarter, netting two goals to give her team an early 2-0 lead.
Pope John (0-2) battled back in the second quarter. Kaitlyn Honig scored to cut the deficit to 2-1. She then assisted on Cali Hartnett’s goal that tied the game 2-2 heading into halftime.
After a scoreless third quarter, Cammarata completed her hat trick with the game-winning goal in the fourth to seal the 3-2 win for Wallkill Valley.
Cammarata finished with three goals and six points to lead all players. Honig had a strong game for Pope John with a goal, an assist and three points.
Both goalies were busy, with Madelynn Dick making three saves for Wallkill Valley and Evelyn Gerald stopping 3 shots for Pope John.
Wallkill Valley had the edge in penalty corners, attempting seven compared to four for Pope John. Each team scored once off a penalty corner.
