Cal Gworek scores game-winner in OT, Easthampton boys hockey defeats Amherst – MassLive


Easthampton’s Cal Gworek scored late in the third period against Amherst to force overtime and then scored the winner in the extra period to give the Eagles an exciting win, 4-3.
Gworek finished with two goals and an assist to lead the way. Grayson Prevey-Catrambone (assist) and Wyatt Hunter also scored for the Eagles. Brayden Fennessy (two) and Max Scribner also each had assists. Tommy Bixby got the win at goaltender.
Amherst jumped ahead in the first period with a goal from Joshua Feldman that was assisted by Noah Latulippe and Ethan Mooney. Both teams traded goals in the second period with Hunter scoring for Easthampton and Feldman scoring again for the Hurricanes.
Easthampton trailed by one going into the third period, but closed the gap with a goal from Prevey-Catrambone. Mooney gave Amherst the lead again in the third period, but a goal from Gworek forced overtime. With 4:02 left in the extra period, Gworek scored again to give the Eagles an overtime victory.
Easthampton’s next game is on Saturday against Agawam, while Amherst’s is against McCann Tech on Saturday.
