The New York Rangers will look to exact some revenge on the Boston Bruins on Wednesday after losing in Beantown less than a week ago.
I like their chances of getting even at Madison Square Garden (7 p.m. ET on TNT), where they have won six of the last nine games, including a late third-period comeback victory over the Vegas Golden Knights on Sunday.
Our Bruins vs. Rangers prediction and picks lean on the Blueshirts’ recent fruitful patch at home, coupled with Boston’s road yips.
NHL odds via our best NHL betting sites; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale.
Time is becoming more of an adversary for the Rangers than their long-loathed rivals from Beantown. New York was among the Stanley Cup odds front-runners in the embryonic stage of the season.
A tragic extended malaise has them playing catch up, and they’ll have to run the table to leapfrog five teams to earn a wild-card berth.
There is some good news. The Blueshirts are playing confidently at home, where they are 6-2-1 since Jan. 2. In that span, Peter Laviolette’s squad is tied for the eighth-fewest goals against per game (2.22) at Madison Square Garden. When things are running smoothly, so too is their power play.
New York has the sixth-best home power play over the last month, scoring at a 30.6% clip. That could spell disaster for a Bruins penalty kill that is the worst on the road since Dec. 19 (63.3%).
The Bruins have turned things around at TD Garden and are one of the best home teams in the last few weeks. Unfortunately, that rich vein of form has not extended to playing in hostile rinks.
Boston lost three in a row on its travels entering the game and has the third-worst points percentage since Dec. 19, losing 9 of the previous 10. The top-line stats are as you’d expect, with the Bruins scoring the seventh-fewest goals per game (2.30) while allowing the most (4.40) during that timeframe.
In addition, I can’t see the Bruins beating the Rangers in consecutive games considering how poorly they have acquitted themselves on the road. A winning $10 bet will profit $9.09 at our best sports betting sites.

As Miller is as excited to be back in the Big Apple as a toddler who first learns to dance, I had to jump on his assist prop. Like any honeymoon period, I don’t expect his joyful exuberance to last forever. He has four points in two games since rejoining the Blueshirts, and I don’t think he’s done yet.
Miller scored two goals in his debut against the Bruins on Saturday and posted two helpers against Vegas the last time out. He’s playing on the first line, which should help him bear more fruit. One assist seems more than manageable. A winning $10 bet will profit $10.50.
