In a showdown between two struggling teams – and a pair of disheartened fanbases, as a result – who can right the ship tonight?
The Boston Bruins have just one win from their last 11 road games, while the Pittsburgh Penguins have lost eight of 12 overall. Something’s gotta give.
With neither team especially able to put the other away, our Bruins vs. Penguins prediction expects a close game featuring six or fewer goals when the puck drops at 3 p.m. ET from PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh.
Here are my best Bruins vs. Penguins predictions, expert picks, and best bets tonight with my pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale. Be sure to check out the rest of our NHL picks along with our guide on how to bet on the NHL.
🚨 Game pick: Under 6 goals (-115 via BetMGM) Bruins vs. Penguins ⭐⭐⭐⭐
🚨 My best player prop pick: David Pastrnak anytime goal (+115 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I’m predicting the Penguins will beat the Bruins in a game with six or fewer goals. I selected six goals as the Over/Under mark to protect against a possible empty-netter.
The Penguins have allowed 23 goals in the last four games, an average of 5.75. While it’s clear Mike Sullivan’s team has a disproportionate number of defensive issues, their goaltending has been at fault for allowing the dam to bust wide open.
Joel Blomqvist and Alex Nedeljkovic haven’t covered themselves in glory, with the latter having a tantrum reminiscent of a petulant toddler after being yanked against Philadelphia in the last game. The change made by Sullivan provided the catalyst for the Pens, who overturned a 3-0 deficit to prevail 5-4 in overtime.
After a relatively rotten patch of play, Blomqvist replaced Nedeljkovic and enjoyed his best outing in recent memory, turning aside 22 of 23 shots and finishing with 1.75 goals saved above expected. I expect him to enter Saturday’s game with newfound confidence, putting his recent woes behind him, at least temporarily.
While Sullivan hasn’t yet named Blomqvist the starter, I’d be more surprised than a toddler eating a lemon for the first time to see Nedeljkovic get the nod. It helps Blomqvist will face a Bruins team that has netted more than three goals in two of the last 12 outings.
Meanwhile, the Pens’ five-goal outburst against the Flyers on Thursday marked the first time in 12 games they lit the lamp more than three times. In addition, usually, when two embattled teams square off – especially ones who consistently struggle to score – defense prevails.

The Bruins have been ghastly on the road. While this game could easily go either way, I have the Pens winning 4-2 thanks to a late insurance empty-netter.
Correct score odds: +2200 via FanDuel (bet $10 to win $220)
Here is my best Bruins vs. Penguins player prop bet tonight. You can also check out our NEW NHL player prop odds tool for the latest NHL odds on any market across legal sportsbooks in your region.
Pastrnak is the one constant in Boston.
He is on a recent tear bettered only by Rocket Richard odds runaway favorite Leon Draisaitl. Pasta scored three goals in the last two games and has netted 19 times in 23 games since Dec. 28. He’s also pretty darn good against Pittsburgh, scoring seven in the previous 10, including five in the last five.
Best odds: +115 via FanDuel (bet $10 to win $11.50)
Bet $5, Win $200 in Bonus Bets
