BOSTON — As Jeremy Lauzon skated slowly toward Mark Kastelic, the Bruins forward bent over, stretching to ready himself for the scrap.
That move took longer than the fight itself.
Kastelic had just finished a heavy check in the corner on Vegas defenseman Shea Theodore, who appeared to be shaken up. Lauzon stepped forward to avenge his teammate.
Lauzon spent the first four years of his professional career with the Bruins, before Seattle claimed him in the expansion draft. He met Kastelic at center ice.
Neither player landed a punch. Kastelic lost his balance taking a swing and Lauzon pushed him to the ice. Adhering to a tough guy code, Lauzon didn’t hit him while he was down and the linesmen jumped in.
Despite the lack of action both players got 5-minute majors with 2:34 left in the first.
