Jake Neighbours posted a power-play assist, two shots on goal, three hits and three blocked shots in Thursday’s 4-1 win over Calgary. Neighbours was questionable due to an upper-body injury for this contest, but he was able to suit up without missing time. The 22-year-old winger set up a Brayden Schenn tally in the second period, ending a three-game slump for Neighbours. For the season, Neighbours has 22 points (seven on the power play), 82 shots on net, 109 hits, 35 blocked shots, 30 PIM and a minus-1 rating through 46 appearances.
Clayton Keller logged a power-play assist and a minus-2 rating in Thursday’s 5-3 loss to the Rangers. Keller helped out on a Logan Cooley tally early in the second period. With five assists over his last six games, Keller has remained solid on offense despite a lack of goals. The winger is up to 44 points (18 on the power play), 108 shots on net and a minus-6 rating through 43 outings.
It’s shocking to think a team that isn’t one of the worst in the NHL hasn’t compiled three straight wins all season. But it’s true in the case of St. Louis. I believe that trend ends tonight. The Blues have played with more urgency over the past week, picking up victories in three of their last four games. Jordan Kyrou has been on a tear and the goal prevention has been top notch of late, as the team has allowed two or fewer goals in four straight games. As for Utah, the Hockey club is just 2-7-1 in their last 10 games and have lost three straight. They’ve allowed 10 goals in their last two games.
