The Chicago Blackhawks (7-5-3) finally wrap up their long six-game road trip when they face off with the Detroit Red Wings (9-6-0) at Little Caesars Arena on Sunday afternoon.
Last time out, the Blackhawks earned a second consecutive victory to move to 2-2-1 on their road trip, as they defeated the Calgary Flames 4-0 on Friday night. Connor Bedard once again led the charge for the Blackhawks, as he recorded one goal and three primary assists for his second four-point performance in 11 days. Bedard is currently tied for fourth in the NHL in points and is riding a seven-game point streak entering Sunday.
Spencer Knight was also outstanding in the Blackhawks’ win over the Flames, as he stopped all 33 shots faced to card his first shutout with Chicago. Knight has now stopped 76 of the last 78 shots that he’s faced and has won five of his past seven starts.
After winning five of their opening six games this season, the Red Wings have been trending in the wrong direction recently. Detroit has lost three of its past four contests coming into Sunday and fell 4-1 to the New York Rangers in the most recent outing. The Red Wings are 1-2-0 to begin November, with their lone win coming in a shootout against the San Jose Sharks one week ago.
Dylan Larkin is the leading goal scorer and point-getter for Detroit through 15 games, with 8 goals and 10 assists for 18 points. Former Blackhawks forward Alex DeBrincat leads the team with 11 assists and is second in points with 15.
Speaking of former Blackhawks, Patrick Kane will be part of the Red Wings’ lineup at Little Caesars Arena on Sunday. Kane, 36, missed nearly a month due to an injury but finally returned on Friday in the loss to the Rangers. The three-time Stanley Cup champion and Conn Smyth Trophy winner has five points (2G, 3A) in six games this season. “Showtime” has five career points (1G, 4A) in three career games against the Blackhawks, which have all resulted in a victory.

The Blackhawks didn’t practice on Saturday or hold a morning skate on Sunday, so their official lineup is to be determined.
Frank Nazar’s status remains up in the air against the Red Wings, as he was forced to exit Friday’s game early after falling awkwardly to the ice in the first period. Head Coach Jeff Blashill didn’t rule out Nazar, a Detroit native, from returning to the lineup in his hometown.
If Nazar isn’t able to play, that sets up Sam Lafferty to draw into the lineup for just the second time since the Blackhawks’ home opener on Oct. 11. Should Nazar play, Lafferty will likely be the lone extra skater once again.
