All eyes on Fuengirola Lions Credit: LIONS Inline Hockey Fuengirola
Fuengirola is set for a thrilling weekend as the town hosts the second stage of the Andalusian Senior Ice Hockey League.
The event will take place at the Fuengirola Ice Club, bringing together teams from across the region in what promises to be a fast-paced and competitive round of matches.
The league began on October 25 in Seville, and this new fixture marks the next step in an exciting season for Andalusian ice hockey. Ten teams will take to the ice in Fuengirola, with several returning after their debut in Seville, including the Blues, Bulldogs, Jaén, Sancti Petri and Piratas. They will be joined by five new teams making their first appearance this season: Viking, Latinteam, Chiclana, Gelves and Knights.
The Fuengirola Lions are expected to be the stars of the weekend. The club will have all four of its senior teams competing, making it the largest single contributor to the league. This impressive turnout highlights the Lions’ strong local presence and their ongoing commitment to growing the sport in southern Spain.
Beyond their competitive edge, the Lions continue to follow their core philosophy of inclusion and development. Several young players from the club’s junior programme will have the chance to gain valuable experience by joining the senior squads for selected games. This approach has helped the Lions build a pathway for young talent while strengthening the senior teams’ depth.
Teams including Dragons, Macacos and Vulpinos, who played in Seville, will sit out this round and return to competition in Jaén on December 13.
The weekend in Fuengirola is expected to attract both local supporters and visiting fans, creating a lively atmosphere around the rink. With plenty of action on the ice and strong community backing, the event will be a showcase of the growing passion for ice hockey on the Costa del Sol.
