FAIRBANKS, Alaska — There were 2,209 fans in attendance to watch Alaska face Arizona State on Friday night. They were shorted 11 seconds but certainly not penalty minutes as a late-game melee, including multiple fights, put an early end to the 3-1 contest won by the Nanooks.
Officials dished out a total of 247 minutes of penalties on 44 infractions. By the last, they had enough, calling the game with 11 ticks left on the clock.
Arizona State sophomore Tucker Ness (Plymouth, Minn.) is seen on video charging out of the penalty box only to immediately drop gloves and fight Alaska-Fairbanks graduate student Dawson Bruneski (Camrose, Alberta).
