Supposedly, you can’t teach old dogs new tricks. That’s not the case for ChatGPT, which learns more the older it gets.
Well, we’ve decided to challenge ChatGPT, asking for its AI 4 Nations Face-Off final predictions — including the final score, MVP consideration, first and last goal-scorer, and whether a scrap will break out — for Thursday’s mouthwatering proposition between Canada and Team USA at TD Garden in Boston (8 p.m. ET, ESPN).
Let’s dive into it and compare ChatGPT to our Canada vs. USA prediction.
It’s not the first time we’ve asked Chat GPT to step into the fray, and it won’t be the last.
Previously used to predict the winner of March Madness, Copa America, and the Super Bowl, it’s always interesting to get some perspective from artificial intelligence.
Obviously, using ChatGPT is for entertainment purposes only, so keep that in mind when making your 4 Nations Face-Off bets and predictions.
With that necessary tidbit out of the way, after a lot of back and forth, I asked ChatGPT who would win the Canada vs. USA 4 Nations Face-Off final, what the score would be, and why.
ChatGPT predicts that Canada will win the 4 Nations Face-Off final, beating Team USA 4-2:
Here’s what ChatGPT had to say about the final:
4 Nations Face-Off final prediction: Canada 4, USA 2
“With Quinn Hughes officially not playing, USA’s blue line is now missing both Charlie McAvoy and Hughes, two of their top puck-moving defensemen. That’s a major blow to their transition game, defensive structure, and ability to match Canada’s speed. This tilts the game in Canada’s favor.
Key reasons for the prediction:
✅ McAvoy + Hughes not playing = major USA disadvantage – The Americans don’t have access to their top two puck-moving defensemen, making it harder to keep up with Canada’s transition game.
✅ Cale Makar’s return = game-changer – He wasn’t in the round-robin loss, and his ability to drive offense from the back end exploits USA’s defensive gaps.
✅ Canada’s speed will wear USA down – Over 60 minutes, the lack of top defensemen will force Connor Hellebuyck to do too much, and Canada will eventually break through.
✅ This will still be a hard-fought game, but Canada has a clearer path to victory.
Final thought: If Hellebuyck steals it, USA could still pull off an upset—but they’ll need him to be perfect.”
Chat GPT predicts Nathan MacKinnon will be named MVP. We highlighted MacKinnon as the best value bet in our 4 Nations Face-Off MVP odds.
Here’s what ChatGPT said about MacKinnon winning MVP:
“Nathan MacKinnon is the best bet to win MVP because of his dominant play throughout the tournament, high-impact performance in the final, and ability to take over games in critical moments.
1. Tournament-wide excellence
2. Big-game performance in the final
🔹 Projected final stat line: 1 goal, 1 assist, +2 rating, 5+ shots on goal
3. MVP voter trends favor him
In addition to predicting the Canada vs. USA winner, we asked ChatGPT to predict some of the best 4 Nations Face-Off final prop bets.
With the best odds from our NHL player prop odds tool, which can help you find the best 4 Nations Face-Off odds on any market across legal sportsbooks in your area, here’s ChatGPT’s “thoughts” on some popular props.
“Canada will set the tone. Canada will score the opener on a strong forechecking play leading to a goal by MacKinnon.”
Best odds for MacKinnon to score first: +1200 via FanDuel

“Team USA pulls Hellebuyck late and gets one back from Auston Matthews, but an empty-net goal from MacKinnon ices the game.”
Best odds for MacKinnon to score last: +1000 via bet365
With all factors considered, including McAvoy not playing, the previous injuries to Matthew Tkachuk and Brady Tkachuk, the fact there hasn’t been a fight in a best-on-best international final, along with the importance and gravity of the occasion, I asked ChatGPT if it thought a fight would break out.
“Yes, there’s still a good chance of at least one fight.
Who could drop the gloves now?
🔥 Brady Tkachuk (USA) vs. Brandon Hagel (Canada)
🔥 Matthew Tkachuk (USA) vs. Brad Marchand (Canada)
Factors that could lead to a fight:
✔ If the game gets out of hand late, expect frustration to boil over
✔ A big, borderline hit on a star player could trigger a response
✔ If either team runs up the score, Team USA may take out their frustration physically
Final call: will there be a fight?
✅ Yes, there’s still a solid chance of one fight
✅ More likely: intense scrums, gloves in the face, and cheap shots after whistles
✅ If one team is trailing big in the third, expect fireworks”
