The Charlotte Checkers’ winning goal in a 4-3 overtime decision in Game 5 of Calder Cup championship series Saturday at the Abbotsford Centre was  centring pass fromJesse Puljujärvi from behind the Abbotsford net that ricochetted off the skates of Abbotsford’s Ty Mueller, then off the skates of his teammate Guillaume Brisebois before sneaking across the goal line at the 15:22 mark of the extra session.
Abbotsford had controlled the play for the much of the overtime. Max Sasson nearly sent the announced crowd of 7,470 into hysterics at 10:18 of the frame when he pinged one off the far post behind Charlotte goalie Kaapo Kähkönen.
The puck pinballs off both Ty Mueller and Guillaume Brisebois to trickle past the goal line.

Sammy Blais gets the lone call — a roughing penalty —  out of a scrum around the Abbotsford net in the waning seconds of the first. You love the edge he plays with it, but it’s easy to suggest that referees pay extra attention when he’s on the ice because of it. Period ends 1-1.
6:37 p.m.
We’re tied 1-1, as Karlsson scores on the backdoor off a rebound on a 5-on-3 power play for Abbotsford at 15:04.

Another chance from Bains. He’s got better as these playoffs have played out. Is he ready for regular duty next season in Vancouver? Asking for some friends.
“Bains is such a creative player,” says radio analyst Landon Ferraro.

Does it all.
