Las Vegas has quickly become a must-see destination for NHL hockey fans seeking to catch their team on the road.
After years of people doubting that Vegas could become a viable destination for professional sports, the NHL has not only proved them wrong but has also completely changed the city’s identity.
That iconic desert locale has transformed into an NHL destination for hockey fans across the continent ever since the Vegas Golden Knights entered the league in 2017.
But how do you best enjoy a trip to Las Vegas to watch your favourite hockey team?
Accommodations are the most important part of any trip, and Las Vegas boasts multiple world-class resorts within walking distance of T-Mobile Arena.
During a recent visit, we stayed at the Park MGM Hotel and Casino, which is situated mere footsteps away from T-Mobile Arena and just a short three-minute walk from the iconic Las Vegas Strip. If you want to limit the amount of walking on a trip, this would be an excellent choice.
The New York-New York Hotel and Casino is right across the street from the Park MGM and would offer similar accessibility to both the arena and the Strip.
These resorts are world-class and offer a variety of amenities, including restaurants, outdoor pools, and nightly Vegas shows. If these two don’t inspire you, some of the city’s most iconic resorts, such as The Venetian, Bellagio, and Caesar’s Palace, are all within 10-minute drives away from the rink.
Another option is Mandalay Bay, which is about a seven-minute drive away and also boasts one of the most unique mini-golf courses we’ve ever seen at the Swingers Las Vegas.
Vegas is typically associated with its glitzy high-end restaurants that ooze luxury, but the arrival of pro sports has spurred the sports bar scene.
We opted to check out BeerHaus, a classic sports bar that sits a mere two-minute walk away from T-Mobile Arena. Here, they offered both indoor and outdoor seating, an excellent selection of beer (some of which is brewed in Vegas), as well as a welcoming atmosphere to opposing fans.
It was littered with Edmonton Oilers fans when we went, and everybody seemed to be having a fantastic time.

Another, higher-scale option would be Gordon Ramsay Burger in the Flamingo Hotel and Casino, which is about a 10-minute drive away from the rink.
Combine that with the live DJ and performers in the square outside the arena, the Vegas showgirls performing around the arena, as well as a live on-ice show before puck-drop, and you’ve got yourself much more than a hockey game to enjoy.
Be sure to get out and about well in advance of puck drop to soak in all that Vegas has to offer in pre-game festivities.
If you’re going to Las Vegas to watch a hockey game, you may as well make a trip out of it.
An off day in Vegas will provide you with an endless array of things to check out, but there are a few that should especially appeal to sports fans.
Thrill-seekers should check out the Vegas F1 Plaza just East of the Strip. Here you can race go-karts on an actual F1 track, drive a simulator, design your very own F1 car and learn more about the sport’s history.

Another great way to scratch that adrenaline itch is trying out the zipline at The LINQ Hotel, which sits 12 stories high and can reach a top speed of 56 km/h.
If you want to get in on some classic Vegas fun with a sports twist, the Circa Resort and Casino on Fremont Street in Downtown Las Vegas boasts an incredible three-story sportsbook with massive TV screens and theatre-style seating. Circa is also where you’ll find Stadium Swim.
