Twelve more games came to you live after Friday’s hockey hysteria. After their shooutout win, the Toronto Marlies were the lone undefeated team and took on the Belleville Senators on Saturday. Other rematches from Friday included the Utica Comets vs Laval Rocket, Bridgeport Islanders vs Charlotte Checkers, and Iowa Wild vs Texas Stars.
As NHL teams continue to feel out their rosters for the 2024-25 season, they have been sending players down and calling up other prospects. In one of the more news-making moves of the season so far, Pittsburgh Penguins announced they would send goaltender Tristan Jarry to the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins on Saturday morning.
Earlier this week, the New York Rangers sent forward Matt Rempe back to the Hartford Wolf Pack, and played last night against the Phantoms in their overtime win.

According to theAHL.com:
“During the regular season, the American Hockey League plays a five-minute, 3-on-3 overtime period following games tied after regulation. If neither team scores, the game advances to a shootout, with each team getting three attempts. If the score remains tied, the shootout progresses to sudden-death rounds until a winner is determined.
In the Calder Cup Playoffs, teams play 20-minute overtime periods at full strength until a goal is scored.”
With 10 minutes remaining on a 5-on-3 powerplay, Joakim Kemell slots his third of the night past the Wolves’ Yaniv Perets.

Despite both allowing four goals earlier in the game, Jet Greaves for Cleveland Monsters and Michael Houser for Rochester Americans put on a show for fans during the 3-on-3 overtime to take the game into a shootout.
These teams head back to overtime and end tied at 1. When things head into the shootout, this time things go the way of the Belleville Senators unlike last night when the Marlies won in the shootout.
The Hershey Bears have surged back from being in a two-goal deficit and made it 6-2 with 10 minutes remaining in the third period.

In his first goal for the Thunderbirds, Newkirk pots it in after chaos in front of the Bears’ net. The goal was reviewed and confirmed. A few minutes later, their captain would score another, making it 2-0 over the reigning champions.

FloHockey writer Patrick Williams put together his early season rankings for the top 10 AHL teams. Here’s a bit of what he had to say about the 6th-ranked Milwaukee Admirals.
“Few things in hockey are as reliable as the Admirals and success even though head coach Karl Taylor has had to manage a fairly significant amount of turnover after his club reached the Western Conference Finals the past two seasons. One question involves the Nashville Predators. If the parent club continues to struggle, how long until a call is put in for reinforcements from Milwaukee?”

The second period has been a barn-burner for Rockford IceHogs fans watching from home and Manitoba’s rink as the team has not only caught up from a 2-goal deficit but taken the lead all within 10 minutes of play. Hayes, Fitzgerald, and Guttman were credited with the points with the latter being on very short-lived power play that was masterfully managed by the IceHogs.
