The Ottawa Senators will be hoping for an altogether different performance and outcome the second time of asking at Lenovo Center when they face the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday (7 p.m. ET, NHL Network).
Thanks to two power-play goals, the Hurricanes won 4-0 on Nov. 16. The Hurricanes have won five of seven at the Lenovo Center since and boast the second-best home points percentage (.786). That starkly contrasts the Senators’ away fortunes, as they have the sixth-worst road points percentage in enemy rinks (.375).
The Sens enter the game with three wins in the last four, all on home ice. Meanwhile, the Hurricanes are among the Stanley Cup odds favorites but have lost four of the previous six.
Our Senators vs. Hurricanes prediction focuses on a player prop from each team, featuring Seth Jarvis as the best bet and a Carolina prop.

Jarvis hit the Over on this prop in five of the last eight games, averaging 2.6 shots per contest during that stretch. He struggled in the previous two outings, mustering just one shot. However, he hasn’t endured a three-game Under streak since the end of October, and he usually thrives against the Sens.
Jarvis fired at least three shots in four straight and five of the last six against Ottawa. He’s also much more productive at home, hitting the Over in five of the previous six tilts.
The only Under came against San Jose, where he didn’t register a shot. I don’t necessarily see that as a bad thing, as the 22-year-old should have a little extra pep in his step to make amends.
Over the last 10, Jarvis hit the Over in eight.
He should also get a few looks on the power play. The Hurricanes have the third-best home power play (31.1%), while the Sens own the third-worst road penalty kill (70.6%).
A winning $10 bet will profit $10.50.

Tkachuk had four shots or more in three of the last five games, averaging 5.8. On Dec. 1 in Anaheim, he unloaded 12 shots, tying his season best. He also had 12 shots in Boston on Nov. 9.
While the Sens don’t fare particularly well against Carolina, their captain does. He had at least five shots in four of the last five against the Hurricanes, averaging a whopping six in that span.
He fired seven shots on Spencer Martin in the previous outing against Carolina at Lenovo Center. A winning $10 bet will profit $9.43.
Best odds: -120 via Betway | Implied probability: 54.55%
The Hurricanes scored at least four goals in nine of their last 11 home games and average the most per game on home ice (4.21). They lit the lamp four times against Ottawa in the first meeting and face a Sens team that allows the 12th most goals per game on the road (3.25).
And Ottawa has allowed four or more in three of their last four away tilts.
They are also heavily outmatched against one of the elite home power plays, affording a higher likelihood of Carolina hitting the Over. A winning $10 bet will profit $8.33.
