After debuting last season, the NHL Frozen Frenzy is back today, October 22.
More than eight hours of nonstop coverage will span the continent with all 32 NHL teams set to play with staggered start times between 6:00 p.m. ET and 11:00 p.m. ET.
Last year, the first Frozen Frenzy featured 102 goals scored, two shutouts, and two overtime games.
All of the NHL’s biggest stars will be on the ice for what will likely be a string of can’t miss moments and games — one team can keep their undefeated streak alive while another is searching for their first win and plenty of rookies are still hoping to take the perfect shot that leads to their first NHL goal.
Returning for its second year, the Frozen Frenzy is a day in which all 32 NHL teams play. 16 games will take place with start times ranging from 6:00 p.m. ET to 11 p.m. ET, with staggered starts 15 to 45 minutes apart so none of the games begin at the same time.
Due to local blackout restrictions, you’re going to need more than one streaming service if you plan on tuning into more than one game tonight. Aside from three games airing nationally on ESPN and ESPN+, the other 13 will air on the regional sports network (RSN) local to each team.
If you live within the geographical broadcast area of a team, you’ll have to watch them on their respective RSNs (like, for example, the New York Rangers on MSG or the Boston Bruins on NESN) — and if you don’t have cable, the best way to do this is with a live TV streaming service. Three games will get a national spotlight during the 2024 Frozen Frenzy; these are only airing on ESPN and ESPN+, without the option to watch on a regional sports network.
ESPN will also present a whip-around style Frozen Frenzy studio broadcast beginning at 7:00 p.m. ET on ESPN+, and picking up at 8:00 p.m. ET on ESPN2. The broadcast, which will run through 12:00 a.m. ET, will be hosted by John Buccigross, Kevin Weekes, and P.K. Subban.
Sixteen NHL games kick off at 6:00 p.m. ET with Capitals at Flyers.

Winnipeg Jets at St. Louis Blues: At 5-0, the Winnipeg Jets are the only undefeated team left in the NHL after roughly two weeks of the regular season. Tonight, they’ll have a chance to keep their undefeated streak alive against the 4-2 St. Louis Blues.
Boston Bruins at Nashville Predators: The Predators have yet to win a game, going 0-5 to start the season, even with new additions like Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault. Can they record their first win of the season tonight, or will they be bested by the 3-2 Boston Bruins?
