The men’s ice hockey semifinals at the 2026 Winter Olympics are set for Friday, with Team USA facing Slovakia.
After a 2-1 overtime win against Sweden in the quarterfinals, Team USA advances to a semifinal matchup on Feb. 20. Among the 25-player roster is center and Ohio native J.T. Miller, who plays professionally for the NHL’s New York Rangers.

The Buckeye State had several women’s hockey players with ties to the state win medals in the women’s hockey tournament. It also has a representative playing for gold in the men’s hockey tourney. Ohio native J.T. Miller is playing for the Team USA men’s hockey team at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games.
Miller, 32, was born in East Palestine (about 30 minutes south of Youngstown). According to his bio, he and his brother Matt skated before school in a 30-by-18 foot rink their dad built in their backyard.
Miller was drafted in the first round by the New York Rangers in the 2011 NHL Draft and was traded back to the Rangers in 2025 where he currently serves as the team’s captain.
If Team USA advances to the gold medal match with a win over Slovakia, it would then take center stage as one of the final competitors in the Winter Olympics.
The gold medal game will take place on Sunday, Feb. 22 at 8:10 a.m. ET, according to USA TODAY.
The bronze medal match is scheduled for 2:40 p.m. on Feb. 21. According to NBC’s coverage schedule, that game will air on USA Network and Peacock.
