Every four years, the best women’s hockey players in the world take the ice to decide supremacy in the Winter Olympics. This year, Italy is hosting the games in Milan, which means the country will be the hotbed for hockey over the month of February.
The Canadian women’s hockey team is typically the team to beat, having won five of the last six gold medals. In fact, in the seven Winter Olympics that have featured women’s hockey, Canada has played in all seven gold medal games, winning five of them with just two losses.

Meanwhile, the United States is the second most successful women’s hockey team, having won two golds and four silvers and one bronze in seven appearances. Of the seven gold medal games, six have featured a battle between Canada and the United States, as Canada is 4-2 in those games, including in 2022.
Of course, other countries will have the chance to pull off a few huge upsets and make a surprise run to unseat Canada and the United States at the top of the hill.
The Sporting News is tracking the Olympic women’s hockey scores and schedule each day throughout the tournament. Follow along for updates.
