Men’s Hockey at the 2026 Winter Olympics is now underway, and on Thursday, Feb. 12, the United States takes the ice for its first game against Latvia at Milano Santagiulia Arena in Milan.
This Preliminary Round game is scheduled to start at 3:10 p.m. EST and will be broadcast on USA Network. Fans looking to watch can do so for free by using DIRECTV, which offers a free trial. SlingTV doesn’t offer a free trial but has promotional offers available for streaming the game. Peacock has coverage of everything happening at the 2026 Milan Olympics plans starting at $10.99 a month.
This is the first of three Preliminary Round games for the United States, with dates against Denmark and Germany set for Saturday and Sunday.
The USA is still searching for its third ever gold medal in men’s hockey and first since 1980. The program has collected two silver medals in that time in 2002 and 2010, moving the total silver medals in USA history to eight. The team finished fifth in 2022 and fourth in 2014.
Boston Bruins Charlie McAvoy and Jeremy Swayman are lacing up the skates for Team USA, along with Massachusetts natives Matt Boldy of the Minnesota Wild, and Jack Eichel and Noah Hanifin of the Vegas Golden Knights, and UMass Lowell product Connor Hellebuyck of the Winnipeg Jets.
