As Olympic ice hockey revs up, let’s take a look at who’s representing Team USA.
We’re less than a week into the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics on NBC and Peacock, and while some sports have already handed out a ton of medals, others are just getting started. Ice hockey, always a popular event for viewers and fans, is in the latter category, as the women’s teams prepare for the playoffs and the men’s teams get their preliminary play underway.

Ice hockey is one of the few disciplines at the 2026 Winter Games to run across the entire two-week span of the competition, and as Team USA prepares to take the ice in some crucial games this week, it feels like the perfect time to take a look at who’s on the roster for both teams. So, let’s take a quick look at the stars of Team USA men’s and women’s ice hockey.

Team USA’s Men’s Hockey team poses for photographs during training on day three of the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics at Milano Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena on February 9, 2026 in Milan, Italy.
For the first time since the 2014 games in Sochi, the Olympics will feature athletes from the National Hockey League competing in men’s ice hockey. That means that 23 of the 25 men skating for Team USA are first-time Olympians. Led by Team Captain Auston Matthews, the men’s team is angling for their first Olympic gold since the legendary “Miracle on Ice” in 1980, and they’ll be doing it with a lot of pro hockey talent.

Team USA’s Women’s Hockey team celebrate their victory after the Women’s Ice Hockey Group A match between Team Canada and Team USA during the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics at Milano Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena on February 10, 2026 in Milan, Italy.
While the men’s ice hockey team are out for their first gold in nearly 50 years, the women’s team is out for redemption. The rivalry between the U.S. and Canada remains stronger than ever, and while the U.S. took the 2025 world title, they’re still looking for revenge after losing to the Canadian women in the gold medal game of the 2022 Beijing Olympics.
Leading the charge for Team USA is team captain Hilary Knight, the veteran legend who’s now the first U.S. ice hockey player to ever compete in five different Olympics. Knight’s already got at least one medal of every color in her trophy case, but a trip back to the podium would mean tying the record for most hockey medals in Olympic history, with five total. The 23-player team includes 21 women who were part of the 2025 world championship team, and 11 who were on the silver medal team at the Beijing Games. Here’s the complete breakdown:
