MILAN (AP) — Dustin Gazley grew up in Novi, Michigan, played hockey at Michigan State, led the ECHL in scoring one season and skated in more than 300 games in the American Hockey League. Then he took his talents to Europe and settled in Bolzano in the Italian Alps.
“I haven’t looked back,” Gazley said.

Led by Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn’s 24 points, the UNLV Rebels defeated the San Jose State Spartans 82-75 on Tuesday. The Rebels are now 12-12 on the season, while the Spartans fell to 6-18.
Even with essentially his entire starting lineup unavailable because of injuries, Lakers coach JJ Redick still looked forward to competing against a worthy opponent in the San Antonio Spurs.
Graham Ike had 20 points and seven rebounds, Davis Fogle scored 17 off the bench and No. 12 Gonzaga routed Washington State 83-53 for its ninth straight victory over the Cougars. Mario Saint-Supery and Adam Miller added 11 points apiece for the Bulldogs, who tied Santa Clara atop the West Coast Conference standings. The teams meet Saturday with first place on the line. Jerone Morton scored 15 points for Washington State, which also got blown out at home by Gonzaga in January. The Cougars were hampered by 39% shooting from the field and 21 turnovers. Gonzaga shot 55% and committed 12 turnovers.
NEW YORK (AP) — Pascal Siakam scored 30 points, Andrew Nembhard had 24 points and 10 assists and the Indiana Pacers snapped a four-game losing streak by holding off the New York Knicks with a 137-134 overtime victory on Tuesday night.

Victor Wembanyama scored 37 of his season high-tying 40 points in the first half and the San Antonio Spurs beat the short-handed Los Angeles Lakers 136-108 for their fifth straight victory. Wembanyama had the highest-scoring first half in the NBA this season while going 12 of 17 from the field with three 3-pointers against a Lakers lineup missing Luka Doncic, LeBron James and Austin Reaves. Wembanyama played only the first eight minutes of the second half with the Spurs far ahead in their 10th win in 13 games. Carter Bryant scored a career-high 16 points for the Spurs.

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Oscar Cluff’s layup put Purdue ahead with 3.9 seconds left in overtime after Nebraska had taken its first lead and Gicarri Harris’ two free throws sealed the No. 13 Boilermakers’ 80-77 victory over the No. 7 Cornhuskers on Tuesday night.
Jayden Pierre’s 3-pointer put TCU ahead with 48 seconds left and the Horned Frogs scored the final 12 points to upset No. 5 Iowa State 62-55. Tanner Toolson had 17 points and nine rebounds off the bench for TCU, which earned its first victory over a top-five team since beating No. 3 Houston in January 2024. Micah Robinson also scored 17. Joshua Jefferson had 12 points, nine assists and eight rebounds for the Cyclones, who had won five straight. Tamin Lipsey also finished with 12 points, but Iowa State went scoreless over the final 2 1/2 minutes.
Afghanistan has won the toss and sent 2024 runner-up South Africa in to bat in the crunch Group D game at cricket’s Twenty20 World Cup. South Africa won its opening game against Canada. Afghanistan lost its opener to New Zealand and needs a win to maintain its chances of progressing to the Super Eights from a group containing three highly-ranked teams. New Zealand is 2-0 and leads the group. In other matches Wednesday, Australia is due to play its tournament opener against Ireland and England is facing the West Indies.
The Phoenix Suns beat the Dallas Mavericks 120-111. Dillon Brooks scored 23 points and Devin Booker added 19. The Mavericks have now lost eight consecutive games. Naji Marshall scored 31 points and Cooper Flagg had 27 for Dallas. The Suns took control early, leading 2-1 on Booker’s jumper with 10:01 left in the first quarter and never trailing again. They led by as many as 31 points during the game. The Mavericks will face the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night, while the Suns will host Oklahoma City on Wednesday night.
Arizona State defeats Oklahoma State 85-76, thanks to a late 9-0 surge. Massamba Diop scores 17 points, and Santiago Trouet adds a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. On Tuesday night, after a Kanye Clary 3-pointer brings the Cowboys within one point, Arizona State pulls ahead with a 10-point lead with 1:25 left. Maurice Odum and Noah Meeusen contribute key points during this stretch. The Sun Devils seal the win from the free-throw line. Oklahoma State ties it twice in the second half but can’t maintain the lead. Arizona State improves to 13-12, while Oklahoma State falls to 16-8.
Elijah Perryman scored 16 points off of the bench to help lead the Utah State Aggies past the Fresno State Bulldogs 91-78 on Tuesday. The Aggies are now 21-3 with the win and the Bulldogs fell to 11-13.
Led by Brandon Rechsteiner’s 14 points, the Colorado State Rams defeated the Air Force Falcons 91-74 on Tuesday. The Rams are now 14-10 with the victory and the Falcons fell to 3-21.
NBA Standings
The NBA has fined Chicago Bulls guard Collin Sexton $35,000 for making an inappropriate hand gesture during a game. The incident occurred during Chicago’s 123-115 loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Monday. Sexton made the gesture after a free throw with 1:31 left in the third quarter. He scored 21 points in the game, though he made only 7 of 18 field goals.
Nick Boyd scored 25 points and John Blackwell had 24 to lead Wisconsin to a 92-90 overtime victory over No. 8 Illinois. The pair combined for nine of the Badgers’ 11 points in overtime, handing the Illini their second straight overtime loss. Illinois lost Saturday at No. 10 Michigan State. Keaton Wagler scored 34 points for Illinois, which played without injured starters Kylan Boswell and Andrej Stojakovic. Wisconsin trailed by 12 points with 8:10 to go in regulation but sent the game into overtime at 81-all thanks to two 3-pointers by Austin Rapp in the final two minutes.
Darius Acuff Jr. scored 28 points — the freshman’s fifth straight game scoring 21 or more — and No. 21 Arkansas routed reeling LSU 91-62. Fellow freshman Meleek Thomas added 20 points, Trevon Brazile had 14 points and 12 rebounds, and Billy Richmond III added 13 points for the Razorbacks. Arkansas led throughout and by as many as 36 points en route to their fifth victory in six games. Marquel Sutton scored 18 points and Pablo Tamba added 11 for LSU. The Tigers shot just 31% while losing for the fifth time in six games. Acuff has scored at least 20 points 14 times this season, including his season high 31 in a victory over LSU on Jan. 24.

Robert Wright III answered the boos in his return to Baylor, posting the first 30-point game of his career as No. 22 BYU ended a four-game losing streak with a 99-94 victory over the Bears. Wright backed out on a deal to return to Baylor for his sophomore season. He chose the Cougars, whose skid had sent them tumbling in the AP Top 25. Wright scored 30 points and top NBA prospect AJ Dybantsa had 36 for BYU. Wright said he was expecting the boos. Cougars coach Kevin Young praised the Baylor crowd for keeping it “classy.”
CORAL GABLES, Fla. — Given the emotional intensity of Saturday night — what with UNC’s best buzzer-beater since Luke Maye’s shot in 2017 and the subsequent celebrations on the court (twice) and on Franklin Street — a bit of a hangover shouldn’t have been surprising.
San Francisco 49er Keion White was shot following an argument with rapper Lil Baby and his entourage at the football player’s Super Bowl party, according to a police report.
Defense wins championships and Super Bowl LX showed it can get ratings too.
Jacari White scored 19 points off the bench, including a go-ahead dunk with 1:12 remaining, and No. 15 Virginia closed on an 11-0 run to rally past Florida State 61-58. White shot 5 of 9 from 3-point range as the Orlando native returned to the Sunshine State and helped the Cavaliers extend their winning streak to five games. Lajae Jones had 21 points and a season-high 13 rebounds for Florida State, which had won three straight. Robert McCray V finished with 20 points. A short jumper by Thijs De Ridder gave Virginia a 61-58 advantage with 25 seconds remaining. Jones and McCray each missed a 3-pointer that could have tied it, and the Seminoles went scoreless over the final 4:54.
Miami beat No. 11 North Carolina 75-66 for their first win over a Top 25 team in two years. Malik Reneau scored 16 points and Ernest Udeh Jr. added 15 points and 10 rebounds. Miami never trailed in the game. The Hurricanes improved to 19-5 overall and 8-3 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. North Carolina’s loss snapped its five-game win streak. Miami outscored North Carolina 46-28 in the paint. Hurricanes fans stormed the court to celebrate. Jarin Stevenson scored 13 points to lead the Tar Heels.

The Boilermakers recorded their second top-10 win of the season to start a difficult closing stretch that has them playing three top-10 teams over 16 days. Nebraska lost for the third time in four games following a 20-0 start. Fletcher Loyer led Purdue with 18 points.
Led by Rikus Schulte’s 19 points, the Fordham Rams defeated the Saint Joseph’s Hawks 68-64 on Tuesday. The Rams moved to 13-12 with the win and the Hawks dropped to 15-10.
LOS ANGELES — LeBron James will miss his 18th game of the season on Tuesday night, confirming that the 41-year-old Lakers’ star will fall short of 65 total games and therefore end his bid at postseason awards as well as his 21-year streak of receiving All-NBA honors.
Tyler Tanner scored 25 points, Jalen Washington added 22, and No. 19 Vanderbilt outlasted Auburn 84-76. Washington hit 7 of 8 shots and knocked down both of his 3-point attempts as a 25% shooter beyond the arc. Devin McGlockton had 12 points and seven rebounds. Tahaad Pettiford led Auburn with 21 points. Keyshawn Hall had 13 points and KeShawn Murphy added 12 points. Vanderbilt went into halftime with a 42-31 lead after closing out the final 6:03 on a 16-5 run. Auburn pulled within four points late but could not get any closer.

RENTON, Wash. — There’s still plenty of fun ahead for the Seattle Seahawks, starting with a parade Wednesday morning through the streets of Seattle celebrating their 29-13 Super Bowl victory over the New England Patriots.
Anthony Weaver is back for another stint with the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens announced Tuesday that Weaver will be their defensive coordinator under new coach Jesse Minter. He was previously the defensive coordinator with the Miami Dolphins for two seasons before coach Mike McDaniel was fired this offseason. Prior to that, Weaver was a defensive line coach for the Ravens. He was a defensive lineman in the NFL and played for Baltimore as part of his seven-year career. Baltimore hired Minter to replace John Harbaugh, who was fired after 18 seasons as the Ravens’ head coach.
Toronto outfielder Anthony Santander will miss much of the upcoming season with a shoulder injury. Blue Jays manager John Schneider says Santander will have labrum surgery on his left shoulder and is expected to be sidelined for five to six months. Santander had 44 homers and 102 RBIs with Baltimore in 2024. He signed a $92.5 million, five-year contract with the Blue Jays last offseason but struggled badly at the plate and played in just 54 games during an injury-plagued Toronto debut. In other Blue Jays news, pitcher Shane Bieber has forearm fatigue and won’t be ready by opening day. Right-hander Bowden Francis will miss the entire season after undergoing UCL reconstruction surgery Wednesday.
Hannah Bilka scored twice, and the United States’ youth and speed overwhelmed a Canadian women’s hockey team missing its captain in a 5-0 win at the Milan Cortina Games. The lopsided victory clinched the U.S. first place in Group A entering the quarterfinals, and continued confirming why the Americans entered the tournament as favorites. Team USA swept all four preliminary-round games by a combined score of 20-1, and brought back memories of how a Canadian team in its prime rolled to winning gold at the 2022 Beijing Games. Canada, meantime, opened tentatively, and then ran into penalty problems minus their long-time leader, Marie-Philip Poulin. Poulin was ruled out a day after she limped off with an apparent lower-body injury in the first period of a 5-1 win over Czechia
Toronto Raptors forward Brandon Ingram will replace injured Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry in the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday. Curry was voted a starter but is out with knee pain. Commissioner Adam Silver chose Tuesday to have Ingram fill Curry’s spot on Team Stripes. It’s Ingram’s second All-Star selection. He is averaging 22 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game this season. Ingram has helped Toronto post a 32-22 record, good for fifth place in the Eastern Conference. Ingram’s Raptors teammate, Scottie Barnes, is on the USA Stars. Raptors coach Darko Rajakovic will coach the World team.
Cardi B was part of Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show. What she did exactly, well, that turned into a perplexing question for two major prediction markets. At least one Kalshi trader filed a complaint with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission over how the prediction market handled Sunday’s appearance by the Grammy-winning rapper. The result of a similar event contract on Polymarket also drew the ire of some users on that platform. There was some ambiguity surrounding whether Cardi B’s halftime appearance constituted a performance, leading to the dispute.

The 16-year-old son of Tiger Woods wants to be a Seminole. Charlie Woods has verbally committed to play for Florida State. Woods is a junior at The Benjamin School in North Palm Beach, Florida. He currently is No. 21 in the American Junior Golf Association Ranking with one win to his credit. He also registered a top 10 in the Junior PGA Championship last summer. Tiger Woods also stayed in his home state for college. He grew up in Southern California and chose to attend Stanford. Woods’ daughter, Sam, currently is attending Stanford.
