RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – The Rapid City Rush are teaming up with the Liberty Center YMCA to host their second annual NHL STREET learn-to-play hockey camp Sunday, March 1, from 10 a.m. to noon.
Members of the Rapid City Rush will be in attendance to run the clinic, which will feature hands-on instruction, skills stations and scrimmages. Registration is open for children ages 6 through 13; no prior hockey experience is required. All equipment will be provided, and participants need not be YMCA members.
“Last year’s hockey clinic with the Rush at the Rapid City YMCA was a huge success, and we’re looking forward to bringing it to our Liberty Center location,” Elaina Kempin, marketing director for the YMCA of the Black Hills, said. “The YMCA brings youth and community together, and we’re excited to bring this wonderful event back in 2026.”
Launched in 2023, NHL STREET is the official youth hockey league of the National Hockey League. It is designed to provide kids and their families with the best of what youth sports can be: having fun, staying active, making friends and creating great memories.
“We are excited to continue our partnership with NHL STREET and the YMCA,” Lilyen McCarthy, community relations coordinator for the Rush, said. “Our mission is to grow the game and bring hockey to more kids in more communities, and we can’t wait to bring our boot camp to Box Elder.”
The Liberty Center YMCA is located at 401 Main Street in Box Elder. Registration is $70 per child. Registration without a jersey is $45 per child. All participants will take home a custom NHL STREET hockey jersey. Register at https://shorturl.at/H6C9z.
