Despite the high total, our Ducks vs. Oilers predictions expect these squads to prioritize defense in Edmonton tonight.
NHL
The Anaheim Ducks will look to extend their winning streak to eight games when they visit the Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Place tonight.
My Ducks vs. Oilers predictions and NHL picks are calling for Edmonton to show up on home ice and slow down Anaheim to snap the winning streak.
Ducks vs Oilers best bet: Under 6.5 (+120)
This game has all the makings of a track meet at first glance, with the Edmonton Oilers coming off a 6-5 overtime win, and the Anaheim Ducks winning 4-3 in overtime against the Flames last night.
I just see both teams looking to flip the script because Anaheim went Under the number in five of its prior six during its active seven-game winning streak, and Edmonton also played to the Under in five of six before the Over hit in its latest two games.
Additionally, the Ducks are without their top two centers and a pair of veteran wingers, so I’m not anticipating a huge push from Anaheim on the second leg of a back-to-back road set. The Oilers will also be looking to tidy up defensively after allowing five goals on home ice last time out.
As noted, Anaheim is thin up the middle, and Edmonton has the best one-two punch in hockey with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl respectively ranking first and fifth in points per 60 minutes on home ice over the past three years.
Plus, 14 of Edmonton’s past 17 wins have been by 2+ goals.
Turning to Oilers winger Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, he’s collected a point in eight of his past 12 games and has clicked with McDavid for a monster 6.83 goals per 60 minutes while also dominating 5-on-5 play with a 55.9 Corsi For percentage and 59.7 expected goals percentage.
The Oilers have played to the Under in four of their past six games, and the Ducks have cashed the Under in five of their past seven. Find more NHL betting trends for Ducks vs. Oilers.
