As girls hockey teams head into the hearts of their schedules, MassLive wants to highlight some of the top games to watch each week.
Whether it’s a potential milestone captured, a bout between two longtime rivals, or two streaking teams facing off, our staff will share the top contests to get out to and when and where they’re taking place.
For this week, Jan. 26 – Feb. 1, here are three Bay State Conference girls hockey games to watch.
Framingham (5-5-2) at Newton North (5-6-1) at Ryan Arena on Jan. 28 at 5:45 p.m.
The first of two games in Watertown on Wednesday, the Flyers and the Tigers are each trying to differentiate themselves in the middle of the conference.
Last time these teams played, it was a 2-2 tie in Framingham. The Flyers have a little extra motivation in this one, as the last time they beat the Tigers was Dec. 16, 2023.
Natick (9-4) at Brookline (7-5) at Ryan Arena on Jan. 28 at 7:45 p.m.
The top two Carey Division teams in the conference, Natick has held firm control of this matchup over the last two years. Brookline however, is a program on the rise and has won two of its last three games.
The Redhawks, are losers of two of three.
Walpole (4-6-3) at Braintree (6-3-3) at Zapustas Ice Arena on Jan. 31 at 2:30 p.m.
Prior to this season, the Timberwolves had beaten the Wasps in three straight matchups. On Dec. 13 however, Braintree swung back with a 2-1 win.
Since then, Braintree has been one of the better teams in the conference and will surely be looking for a season sweep on Saturday.
