The first-place Colorado Avalanche kick off Sunday’s NHL schedule with an afternoon puck drop against the Maple Leafs in Toronto. The game is scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m. ET with TV coverage on NHL Network and streaming on-demand.

A change of scenery might be welcome for the Avalanche, who lost four of the final five games of their seven game home stand. The Avs still lead in the Western Conference and sit atop the Central Division with a 34-6-9 record and 77 points. That total is eight points better than any team in the NHL despite back-to-back home losses to the Anaheim Ducks (2-1 in OT) and Philadelphia Flyers (7-3).
The Maple Leafs are a sixth-place team in the Atlantic Division and 10th in the Eastern Conference, but they are also one of the NHL’s best home teams with a 16-7-6 record at Scotiabank Arena this season. That fact remains even after losing the first three games of their home stand to the Wild (6-3), Red Wings (2-1 OT) and Golden Knights (6-3).
