The Detroit Red Wings look to end their northern road trip on a high note, as they get set to visit the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday night.
This is the third and final game of the Red Wings’ current road trip, and, all things considered, the first two games did not go all that bad for the winged-wheel.
Detroit started things off this past Wednesday against the rival Toronto Maple Leafs. In a wild and entertaining game, it was the Wings who came out on top, as captain Dylan Larkin’s overtime winner gave the team a 2-1 victory. Then, the next night, the team had the task of taking on a talented Minnesota Wild team. Despite the hard travel, the Wings managed to grab a point in an OT loss to one of the best teams in the Western Conference.
With that, the Red Wings come into Saturday one point ahead of the Tampa Bay Lightning for first place in the Atlantic Division.
The Jets are far from the team that finished atop the NHL standings last season. With injuries to key players such as reigning MVP Connor Hellebuyck, the team has struggled to get out of the bottom of the West.
Winnipeg is seventh in the Central Division, six points back of a Wild Card spot.
