The Bruins placed left-shot defenseman Vladislav Kolyachonok on waivers Tuesday for the purpose of sending him to Providence.
The B’s claimed the 24-year-old Kolyachonok off waivers from Dallas on Dec. 16 at a time when their blue line was hit by injuries. Kolyachonok got into only two games for the B’s since then. Showing an eagerness to jump into the play, he nonetheless posted no points and was a minus-1.
The B’s blue line is getting healthy again, with Jordan Harris practicing and presumably nearing a return from his broken ankle he suffered on Oct. 21. Harris is currently on long-term injured reserve and the B’s will eventually have to make room for him on the roster and under the salary cap.
In his brief time as a pro, Kolyachonok has been a part of five organizations. He was drafted by Florida with the 54th overall pick in 2019 but first made it to the NHL in the Arizona/Utah organization, where he played in parts of four seasons. He has also played for Pittsburgh and Dallas.
Considering the toll this condensed schedule is taking on the health of players, it wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility for Kolyachonok to get claimed again.
