Welcome to the 1/19 edition of the PhHN Daily, featuring a small Philadelphia Flyers section and some big news in the league links.
With the Flyers, we have the latest injury update and some game-day information as they look to snap their losing streak.
Around the league, we have two major NHL trades, fake All-Star teams, dissecting a loud comment, and, well, more trade rumors!
Get it all on the 1/19 edition of the PhHN Daily.
Philly Hockey Now: The Flyers have officially placed Rodrigo Abols on injured reserve, which was completely expected. Now, Lane Pederson has been called up and is expected to take over the 4C role.
Speaking of the Flyers, they play a game on Monday. A new game, a new chance to snap this losing streak, even if it’s against a challenging foe. Here is everything you need to know about the Flyers before they take on the Golden Knights.
The Athletic ($): There is no All-Star game this year, but what if there was? During the latest NHL power rankings from The Athletic, they included would-be all-stars as well. Who made it from the Flyers?
Let’s start with the most recent news. Kiefer Sherwood is on the move! The Vancouver Canucks have been firm that a first-round pick is the starting price for the veteran winger. However, on Monday, it was reported that the price had dropped, and an unexpected team stepped up and made the move.
🔀 Welcome to San Jose, Kiefer Sherwood.
The Sharks have acquired the forward from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for San Jose’s second-round selections in 2026 and 2027, and defenseman Cole Clayton.
That is one of the bigger trade dominoes to fall this trade season.
Speaking of big trade dominoes…
Vegas Hockey Now: Rasmus Andersson is on the move! The Las Vegas Golden Knights have once again said screw draft picks, and have sent one, and possibly two first-round picks to Calgary in exchange for the star defenseman. Hannah Kirkell has the latest on the Golden Knights’ big trade.
Ottawa Hockey Now: “At the end of the day, you’ve got to make more than 10 saves to win the game.” Senators defenseman Jake Sanderson did not mince words when talking about his team’s goaltending on Saturday. So, Danny McCloskey broke down Sanderson’s comment.
Toronto Hockey Now: Trade rumors! Anthony Stolarz is nearing his return, which will create quite the situation for the Leafs. We touched on it when looking at Toronto as a possible trade partner for the Flyers’ pursuit of a No. 2 netminder. Now, Dave Litman looks into the possibility of a Maple Leafs goalie trade.
Florida Hockey Now: Matthew Tkachuk is back! After an offseason surgery, the Florida Panthers star is set to make his return on Monday against the Sharks.
