Flyers vs. Golden Knights: The matchup
Last time out, the Flyers took down the San Jose Sharks (4-1) to continue a trend of alternating wins and losses four games into their current home stand. They opened the set of six straight home games with a loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins (4-1), followed by a win over the Buffalo Sabres (5-2), a loss to the Colorado Avalanche (3-2) and the win over San Jose. Philadelphia spotted the Sharks a 1-0 lead in the first period, but locked down defensively and scored four straight, capped by a Travis Konecny empty-netter with 1:53 remaining.
The Golden Knights arrived in Philadelphia as solid betting favorites (-148) to defeat the Flyers on the road after winning two of the first three games on their current road swing. Vegas opened last Friday in New Jersey with a 3-0 win over the Devils, then defeated the New York Rangers (3-2 OT) in Madison Square Garden, before dropping a 5-4 shootout to the New York Islanders. The Golden Knights carry a 14-6-9 record and sit in second place in the Western Conference’s Pacific Division with 37 points.
