HOUGHTON, Mich. — No postgame dinner reservation is safe when the Bemidji State men’s hockey team is playing.
For the sixth time in their last eight games, the Beavers went to overtime, falling 2-1. Michigan Tech’s Max Koskipirtti scored the winner a minute and 35 seconds into the 3-on-3 session to snag the extra point up for grabs.

Both Bemidji State (7-5-2, 5-1-2 CCHA) and Michigan Tech (8-3-1, 5-0-1 CCHA) each earned three points in the two-game series after BSU claimed the shootout point in a 2-2 tie on Friday.
Reilly Funk got the scoring started for the Beavers 11 minutes into the first period on a controversial goal.
Funk took a bad-angle shot that squeezed inside the crossbar, according to the officials on the ice. The play was upheld after a lengthy review, resulting in a 1-0 BSU lead.

Michigan Tech tied the game midway through the second period. Stiven Sardarian leveled the score, with an assist from Joe Prouty.
Bemidji State was short-handed much of the second period. The Beavers took four penalties in the middle frame and surrendered just six shots on goal and went 4-for-4.
BSU’s fifth killed penalty was its most crucial. With 4:31 left in regulation, Vince Corcoran took a hooking minor to send the Huskies to the power play. However, Bemidji State freshman Maxon Vig had the best scoring chance in the following two minutes on a 3-on-1 rush, which forced MTU goaltender Owen Bartoszkiewicz to make a sprawling save.
Bartoszkiewicz finished with 26 saves in the win. Max Hildebrand stopped 21 shots for the Beavers.
