The NHL regular season rolls on as the San Jose Sharks head into the Scotiabank Saddledome to take on the Calgary Flames. San Jose enters at 8-6-3 and trending upward, while Calgary sits at a rough 4-12-2 and searching for some traction.
Even so, the Flames do have home ice and a desperate edge, but recent form leans heavily toward the visitors. San Jose has stacked wins over teams like Minnesota and Seattle, and their young core is starting to look legitimately dangerous.
And if Calgary wants to flip the script from last year’s sweep, they’ll need far more than nostalgia for what worked in 2025.
Meanwhile, Calgary’s lone bright spot this month was a strong win over Columbus, but the consistency hasn’t followed. Historically, they owned this matchup last season, sweeping all four meetings, yet the vibes heading into this one feel very different.

Oddsmakers surprisingly lean toward Calgary, posting the Flames at -157 on the moneyline. The Sharks come in as a +132 dog, which feels generous given their recent momentum.

Coronato continues to be the spark plug, generating quality looks and staying aggressive on the puck. Kadri leading with 11 points underscores how much the scoring depth has thinned out.
Defensively, the physicality is there with a top-10 hit rate league-wide. Dustin Wolf has battled hard through heavy workloads, piling up 376 saves in 15 games even if the results haven’t reflected the effort.

Their power play has been flat, and without consistent scoring, it’s tough to trust them against a team playing with confidence like the Sharks.
Despite the Flames being favored, the smarter money is on the Sharks +132, who enter with better form and more momentum.
Additionally, San Jose’s goaltending has held up under pressure, and their forecheck has started generating turnovers that lead directly to goals.
With the Flames looking directionless offensively, this matchup sets up nicely for another Sharks upset win.
