Sartori's prediction: Bedard dishes out apples.
NHL
The back half of Wednesday’s NHL doubleheader on TNT brings us to the Windy City, where the Chicago Blackhawks welcome the New Jersey Devils.
Chicago star Connor Bedard enters the night on an absolute heater, piling up 11 assists in his last seven outings, and my Devils vs. Blackhawks predictions and NHL picks are banking on him staying red-hot.
Devils vs Blackhawks Best bet: Connor Bedard 1+ assists (-115)
There’s no denying that Connor Bedard will be one of the leaders of the new generation of hockey superstars, and at just 20 years old, he’s starting to take over the league. He ranks fourth in the league in points with 25 through his first 16 games, a product of his elite playmaking ability.
While his shot has garnered the most attention since juniors, those who watch the Chicago Blackhawks know that it’s his vision and playmaking, combined with that shot, that will make him a future Hart Trophy winner. He’s utilized this stellar passing ability well recently, tallying 11 assists over the past seven games.
The most impressive feat of that stretch is that all 11 were primary assists.
His offensive dominance will continue against the New Jersey Devils, a team that’s struggled to get consistent goaltending. Jacob Markstrom is slated to guard the cage for New Jersey, and he carries a .872 save percentage and 3.82 GAA into this matchup.
Four of Bedard’s six assists over the past three games have gone to Tyler Bertuzzi, who’s moved into a net-front role on the first line. Bedard has developed a knack for finding Bertuzzi on the back door, both at even strength and on the first power-play unit, which is why Bertuzzi has scored six times over the past three games.
A Bedard assist to Bertuzzi would further increase the likelihood of Chicago winning, especially considering that Chicago has the clear goaltending edge with Spencer Knight expected to start between the pipes.
Connor Bedard has logged 11 assists in his last seven games. Find more NHL betting trends for Devils vs. Blackhawks.
