PENS HOLD FIRST PRACTICE IN SWEDEN AHEAD OF NHL GLOBAL SERIES GAMES – WCCS AM1160 & 101.1FM

The Penguins got in to Stockholm, Sweden later than expected after a 90-minute delay in getting off the ground in Pittsburgh, but coach Dan Muse still got them onto the ice at the Hovet Arena for an afternoon practice yesterday, including a shootout session.
Muse kept the same line combinations he used on Sunday against the Kings. He says he’s still trying to get the right mix of players to play well at even strength.
The Penguins chose to take Swedish native Fillip Larsson with them to serve as the third goaltender.  Muse says they recognized what a proud moment it would for the Swedes to return home representing the Penguins.
While he wishes injured Swedish linemate Rickard Rakell could play instead of being a tour guide this week, Pens captain Sidney Crosby says it will still be a special day Friday when they face off against Nashville.
Crosby says Swedish fans love their hockey, and to be able to see their heroes in person skating in an NHL game will be a special treat.
Faceoff Friday for the Penguins and Predators from Stockholm will be at 2 PM our time on 925 FM U92.  Sunday’s second game of the series faces off at 9 AM.
The Metropolitan Division standings remain the same after last night’s action.  The Washington Capitals beat the second-place Carolina Hurricanes 4-1 last night.  That means New Jersey remains in first with 23 points, Carolina in 2nd with 22 and the Pens in 3rd, two points behind the Devils.
