Here’s why I’m backing an OVER bet below in my Panthers Kings free pick & gambling prediction for this matchup.
The NHL slate rolls on as the Florida Panthers head west to face the Los Angeles Kings at Crypto.com Arena. Florida enters at 6-6-1 — a team searching for rhythm — while L.A. sits at 6-4-4 and looks like they’re starting to click. You can catch it all on ESPN+ at 10:00 PM ET on November 6, 2025.
Florida’s been inconsistent under Paul Maurice, and that’s putting it nicely.
A recent 7-3 loss to Anaheim exposed their defensive issues again, just days after they edged Dallas 4-3. Sitting 16th in the East, this is the part of the season where “meh” needs to turn into “momentum.”
Meanwhile, Jim Hiller’s Kings have flashed legit two-way hockey. A 3-0 shutout of Winnipeg was their cleanest effort of the year, though a 4-1 stumble versus New Jersey reminded everyone they’re still a work in progress.
They’re 8th in the West and trending upward if the defense holds.

Last year’s series was a split, with the Kings covering the puck line both times. This first meeting of 2025-26 should be tight — a contrast of Florida’s raw physicality versus L.A.’s steady structure.

Vegas leans slightly toward the Kings, listing them around -118 on the moneyline, while Florida’s hovering at -101.
The puck line favors the Panthers +1.5 (-265), and the total’s a modest 5.5 — the sweet spot for a grind-it-out game.
The Panthers’ recent stretch has been a rollercoaster. They looked sharp beating Dallas 4-3, then turned around and got shelled by Anaheim 7-3. A 3-5 conference mark tells the story: too many lapses, not enough response. Maurice has his work cut out if he wants to stop the bleeding.
On the flip side, the Kings have alternated wins and losses but are coming off that statement shutout of Winnipeg. That defense-first mindset could pay off again, especially if they keep pucks away from Florida’s forecheck.
Their 6-4 conference record shows this team can grind out points even when the offense isn’t rolling.
L.A. is sitting in a good groove right now. Three wins in their last five — including that 3-0 blanking of the Jets — prove they can win ugly. When their top six connects, they’re a handful.
Adrian Kempe has been the heartbeat, with 16 points (6G, 10A) in 14 games. Quinton Byfield continues to grow into a top-line playmaker, dishing out 9 assists among his 11 points.
Kevin Fiala brings the spark, adding 6 goals to the mix and keeping defenders honest.
Darcy Kuemper’s done the heavy lifting in net with 235 saves and 4 wins in 10 games. Anton Forsberg’s backup numbers — 110 saves and 2 wins in 4 appearances — provide some balance when Kuemper rests.
The Kings rank 3rd in shots on goal (415), a stat that reflects their offensive volume, though the power play still needs juice (only 7 PPGs, 9th overall).
The Panthers keep you guessing — one night they’re scoring four, the next they’re giving up seven. The 4-3 win over Dallas showed their resilience; the 7-3 collapse versus Anaheim showed their defensive cracks.
Consistency just hasn’t been part of the script.
Brad Marchand has brought veteran grit and scoring punch, pacing the team with 13 points (7G, 6A). Sam Reinhart’s 6 goals show he’s still finding ways to produce despite limited setup help. Those two need to carry the load until the depth scoring wakes up.
Defensively, the Panthers rank 8th in goals against (36), but that number flatters them — Bobrovsky’s been under siege. He’s allowed 28 goals in 10 games, good for “steady but not spectacular.” Florida brings the body, though, ranking 2nd in hits (354). The downside? They rank just 24th in faceoffs won, meaning they’re chasing the puck far too often.
Florida Panthers vs. Los Angeles Kings bottom line: Expect a grind — a clash between the Panthers’ physical chaos and the Kings’ structured precision.
Here is my Kings Panthers free pick. The Kings have been lighting the lamp with consistency, scoring 3 or more goals in 4 of their last 5 games. Their offense has been sharp both at even strength and on the power play, creating chances through relentless forechecking and quick puck movement.
Clearly, this team has found a scoring rhythm worth backing.
Meanwhile, the Panthers’ defense has been anything but airtight, giving up 3 or more goals in 4 of their last 5 contests. Their recent games have turned into shootouts, and their goaltending tandem has struggled to contain top lines.
As a result, the over has hit frequently when Florida faces teams with strong offensive depth like Los Angeles.
With both clubs trending toward high-scoring games, taking the over 5.5 feels like the right side of this total.
Additionally, historical matchups between these teams have leaned toward goal-heavy outcomes, often featuring momentum swings and late scoring bursts.
Given their recent forms, bettors should expect another fast-paced matchup where offense takes center stage.
