The Michigan Wolverines and Notre Dame Fighting Irish wrap up their weekend set in South Bend on Saturday night.
The first game of the weekend saw the Wolverines jump out to a 4-0 lead, thanks to a pair of goals from Will Horcoff. Though the Fighting Irish tried to make things interesting later in the game, Michigan was able to batten down the hatches and hang on for a 5-3 win.
I think it’s officially time to buy into the maize and blue. Sure, the team’s sweep of Providence earlier this season was respectable, but how they played against Western Michigan last weekend really proved that this year’s team is far beyond what many of us predicted to see.
The Fighting Irish still have a lot of work to do in order to show that they have what it takes to hang with the best in the conference. Yet, the fight they showed in the latter half of the game on Friday shows they cannot be taken lightly, especially on home ice.
