Men’s Hockey: Ice Bus to host two games over Halloween weekend – dailycampus.com

After a high-stakes two game series with Boston University last week, the Ice Bus heads back home to face Harvard and Merrimack.
The 3-3 Huskies have split every series with their opponents so far; however, this time neither team is ranked like Boston University or Ohio State.
Speaking of BU, UConn battled with one of the country’s best hockey programs to start their Hockey East schedule. UConn won an 8-4 shootout last Friday, Oct. 24, thanks in part to two goals each by Carlin Dezainde and Ethan Gardula. The Terriers responded with a 3-1 victory on Saturday, Oct. 25, despite a valiant effort by the Ice Bus.
Joey Muldowney continues his amazing play for UConn. The junior scored in both games against BU and netted goals in 5 of the 6 games this season. His consistent play will be key if the Huskies want to make another run in the NCAA tournament.
Jake Richard leads the Huskies in points through six games. The junior has a goal and five assists on the season, going pointless in just two of the games so far. Richard averages 3.67 shots on goal per game, so fans should be expecting him to be firing on all cylinders this weekend.
Tyler Muszelik will be goaltending for Connecticut. The New Jersey native averages 2.63 goals per game with a save percentage of .914. The senior bounced back from 4 early goals by BU last Friday, allowing 0 goals in the final 30 minutes of that game.
Harvard is opening their season against the Huskies after defeating Northeastern in an exhibition game a few weeks ago. The Crimson went 13-17-3 last season, failing to make the NCAA tournament.
Mick Thompson and Casey Severo are the top point scorers returning for Harvard in 2025. Thompson had 32 points, while Severo’s 16 goals helped him tally 28 points in his junior campaign. Ben Charette is the probable starter between the pipes for the Crimson. As a freshman, Charette had a record of 5-8-2 while sporting a save percentage of .909.
Merrimack is 2-1 in Hockey East with wins over UMass Lowell and UNH. The Warriors have an overall record of 3-2 highlighted by taking down No. 6-ranked Quinnipiac by a score of 4-1 last weekend.
Parker Lalonde is the leading scorer for MC. The freshman has five goals on the season including a hat trick against UNH. Max Lundgren has started all five games in net for the Warriors. The native of Sweden has collected 145 saves and averages 2 goals allowed per game.
The Ice Bus is 2-1 against Harvard all-time while owning a losing record of 10-14-5 against Merrimack. All the matchups between the Huskies and the Crimson have taken place in the 2020s, as Connecticut left Cambridge with a 7-3 victory last season. UConn dropped both matches to Merrimack last season by 3 goals apiece. The Warriors won the first four games ever against the Huskies before the Ice Bus finally broke through in 2012.
Both games will be played at the Toscano Family Ice Forum in Storrs with the puck dropping on Friday, Oct. 31, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 1, at 6 p.m. Fans can tune into ESPN+ for coverage of the game.
