The Bruins, under head coach Marco Sturm, currently rank 15th in the Eastern Conference and 1-2 in divisional play. After a gritty 3-2 win over the Avalanche, Boston’s still trying to find its rhythm.
Their offense has flashed potential, but they’ve been burned by too many late-game lapses in tight contests.
On the other hand, Ottawa — led by Travis Green — sits 11th in the East with a 3-3 conference mark. The Senators are coming off a statement 7-1 blowout win over the Capitals, and they’re looking to build on that confidence at home. Heading into this matchup, oddsmakers favor the Senators at -172 on the moneyline, while the Bruins come in at +144. On the puck line, Ottawa sits at -1.5 (+144), with Boston +1.5 (-178). The odds suggest a close game, but one that leans toward the home side.

Meanwhile, Ottawa’s last few games have been a roller coaster. They crushed Washington 7-1, edged Philadelphia 2-1, and fell just short against Edmonton and the Islanders.
Playing in front of their home crowd could be the spark they need to string together momentum.
To start, the Ottawa Senators have been one of the league’s more unpredictable squads. They’ve alternated between dominant and frustrating, but their 7-1 rout of the Capitals reminded everyone what this offense can do when firing on all cylinders.

Here is my Senators Bruins free pick. As both teams hit the ice, the trends point clearly toward a higher-scoring affair. The Senators have seen the total go over in 3 of their last 5 games, while the Bruins have done so in two of their last five — both clubs showing flashes of offensive rhythm despite their defensive lapses.
Defensively, neither side has looked sharp. Ottawa has surrendered 33 goals so far this season, while Boston isn’t far behind with 32 goals allowed. These numbers highlight major gaps in both back ends and create a recipe for a game where scoring opportunities should come often.
Additionally, both squads possess top-six forward groups capable of capitalizing on turnovers and shaky goaltending. Because of that, momentum swings could tilt the total early.
The Bruins’ home ice might help them control tempo, but the Senators’ fast-paced style often forces chaotic, end-to-end action.
Considering the leaky defenses and consistent over trends, backing the OVER 5.5 feels like the sharp move here.
Expect plenty of open ice, quick transitions, and enough scoring to push this matchup comfortably past the total.
