Nathan MacKinnon remains the Avalanche's best weapon, and Scott Wedgewood has looked like one of the NHL's best goalies early. That combo will earn a victory over the Mammoth.
NHL
Tonight’s nightcap features the Utah Mammoth hosting the Colorado Avalanche in a Central Division tilt.
These teams just squared off a few weeks ago, with Colorado securing a 2-1 victory. My Avalanche vs. Mammoth predictions expect a similar outcome this time around.

Avalanche vs Mammoth Best bet: Avalanche moneyline (-145)
The artists formerly known as the Arizona Coyotes are not the team of old. The Utah Mammoth are nearing the end of a long rebuild and look like one of the more competitive squads in the NHL.
In fact, they are one of a handful of teams that rank in the top half of the league in both expected goals for per 60 minutes (xGF/60) and expected goals against per 60 minutes (xGA/60). Utah is playing strong hockey on both ends of the ice, but the issue in this matchup is that the Colorado Avalanche remain better across the board.
This season, Colorado outranks Utah in both of those key categories. That two-way dominance is why the Avs have yet to lose in regulation through six games.
Not only is Colorado superior offensively and defensively, but it also has the goaltending edge. Once again, this is not an indictment of Karel Vejmelka, who is slated to start for Utah. Rather, it’s a testament to Scott Wedgewood, who has been one of the league’s best netminders this season.
Wedgewood outranks Vejmelka in wins, save percentage (SV%), and goals-against average (GAA).
Colorado’s Nathan MacKinnon scored the game-winner in the 2-1 victory over Utah earlier this season. He’s always a threat to find the back of the net, leading the team with six goals in six games.
Defenseman Cale Makar assisted on that goal and has recorded two points in two of his past three games.
Colorado has won three of the past four meetings between these two teams. Find more NHL betting trends for Avalanche vs. Mammoth.
