CANADIENS VS CAPITALS PREDICTION, PICKS & ODDS FOR TONIGHT'S NHL PLAYOFFS GAME 2 – Covers.com

Cole Caufield has played a pivotal part in Montreal's attack, and he'll pick up another point in Game 2.
NHL
The Montreal Canadiens pushed the Washington Capitals to overtime in Game 1 and are looking to steal a win on the road in Game 2 tonight.
My Canadiens vs. Capitals predictions and NHL picks target Cole Caufield to get on the scoresheet in this April 23 tilt.
The Montreal Canadiens were one of the best third-period comeback teams in the league this season, and they showed that in Game 1. The Washington Capitals were outshot 14-7 in the third period and got outscored 2-0 as the Habs gave Washington a scare.
The Caps are once again big favorites in Game 2, and while the Canadiens had a good push late in Game 1, it’s hard to pick against a team that went 26-9-6 at home this season (and the Canadiens were just 17-19-5 on the road).
There may be value on the Canadiens if the Capitals take on some money leading up to puck drop, but I’m still going with Washington to take care of business at home.
My Canadiens vs Capitals pick: Cole Caufield 1+ point (-140 at Sports Interaction)
Cole Caufield got the Canadiens on the board with a power-play goal in Game 1, and he’s been able to find the scoresheet most of the time this season. He was second on the team with 70 points (33 goals, 37 assists) in the regular season, with a point in 54 of 82 games (65.85%).
The Canadiens played the Capitals three times, and Caufield had at least a point in every game. He scored a goal in Washington on Halloween and then picked up a goal and an assist on both December 7 and January 10.
So, including Game 1, Caufield now has six points in four games against Washington this season. And dating back to the beginning of last year, he has nine points in seven games, being held off the scoresheet just once in that span.
The Capitals have been a great team defensively and in net this season, but Caufield is one of the Canadiens’ leading scorers, and we’re getting a pretty good price here at -140, which implies 58.33% probability.
Mind you, Caufield’s linemate Nick Suzuki is up at -205 to record a point.

Cole Caufield anytime goal

Alex Ovechkin anytime goal

Capitals moneyline
There were some worries Alex Ovechkin would lose some momentum after he broke Wayne Gretzky’s goalscoring record, but Ovi came to play in Game 1. He had points on all three Capitals goals with a power-play snipe and the overtime winner.
Look for the big guns to come out firing again on Wednesday night, with the home favourites coming out on top.
