The New Jersey Devils are projected to ice an NHL-heavy lineup against the New York Islanders in game two of the preseason.

Early in the preseason, it appears we will get a close look at what the majority of the New Jersey Devils’ lineup could look like tonight against the New York Islanders. The stars are all projected to be in the lineup, from Jack Hughes to Jesper Bratt, the captain, Nico Hischier, and Timo Meier.
Head coach Sheldon Keefe did mention we could see a tweak or two, and previously explained Arseny Gritsyuk will get a lot of playing time. Perhaps he’s added to the fold, but for now, the projected lineup we have below is the group that skated on Monday morning.

Let’s dive in.
–The Devils opened their 2025-26 campaign on Sunday, September 21, after a 5-3 loss against the New York Rangers at Prudential Center.
–Jersey’s team is scheduled to play seven preseason games, which includes a split-squad on September 28.
–The Devils will host Washington on September 28, and then another squad travels to Quebec City to face-off against Ottawa.
–Jack Hughes (2g-1a), Jesper Bratt (1g-2a) and Dougie Hamilton (0g0-3a) led New Jersey with three points against the Isles last season.
–Hughes owns 11 career goals against the Islanders, which marked his second most against a single opponent for his career (NYR, 16g).
