CHARLOTTE, N.C.– The Catamounts (5-2, 0-0 AE) secured their fifth straight win with a 4-0 victory over Queens (0-6) on Friday evening at Bessant Field.

"There were some great moments today," said head coach Kate Pfeifer. "Veerle, in particular, executed our corner attack plan and continues to level up her contribution to the team. I am proud of the composure we had when playing down a player and the overall professionalism our group maintained throughout the match. HOW IT HAPPENED
Senior forward Maddie Priestly gave the Catamounts the 1-0 lead with a goal off an assist from First-year Veerle Nijhuis
Nijhuis netted her third goal of the season in the 17th minute of the game off a penalty corner, assisted by junior defender Klara Mikulaskova, to make it 2-0. 
In the 33rd minute, Nijhuis converted on a penalty stroke to extend the lead to 3-0.
Nijhuis completed the hat trick in the 46th minute with a goal off a penalty corner, assisted by junior defender Maddy Weaver, sealing the 4-0 victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Veerle Nijhuis leads the Catamounts with 12 points on the season after tallying three goals and one assist in the match.
Maddie Priestly scored her third goal of the season.
Klara Mikulaskova and Maddy Weaver each recorded one assist.
Vermont outshot Queens 13 to one in shots on goal.
Merle Vaandrager made one save to earn the shutout.
UVM had 11 penalty corners to Queens’ two.
Queens goalkeeper Madison Stefano allowed four goals on nine total shots faced.
With today’s Win, Vermont Mutual Insurance Group will donate $100 to the Lund Family Center through the Cat’s Win, Community Win’s initiative.  Vermont Mutual has donated over $5 Million Dollars since launching their Charitable Giving Fund in 2014.
