🏈 NFL Week 2
Last Updated: March 2, 2025 8:23 AM EST • 5 minute read X Social
In just over a week, the St. Louis Blues – thanks to taking nine from an available 10 points – have progressed from wild-card outsider to just one point behind the Vancouver Canucks for the final playoff berth.
The rolling Blues saunter into American Airlines Center for Sunday’s battle against the Dallas Stars (6 p.m. ET, TNT), who are among the Stanley Cup odds contenders and have the league’s best record since Dec. 29 (18-6-1).
Our Blues vs. Stars prediction analyzes whether facing an in-form Stars team in Dallas a day after playing Los Angeles is a task too tall for St. Louis.
Here are my best Blues vs. Stars predictions, expert picks, and best bets tonight with my pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale. Be sure to check out the rest of our NHL picks along with our guide on how to bet on the NHL.
🚨 Game pick: Blues +1.5 (-118 via FanDuel) vs. Stars ⭐⭐⭐
🚨 My best player prop pick: Robert Thomas 1+ assist (+132 via bet365) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I’m predicting the Dallas Stars will beat the St. Louis Blues by one goal in a game that hits Under 5.5.
Jordan Binnington’s winning 4 Nations Face-Off aura must have rubbed off on the rest of his teammates, as the Blue have been sensational in the last eight days, winning four in a row and taking a point from the Winnipeg Jets in the solo loss. Binnington, who probably won’t play against the Stars, has won four in a row and five of his previous six.
As the Blues faced the Los Angeles Kings at home on Saturday, winning 4-1, I expect head coach Jim Montgomery to give Joel Hofer the nod.
While a discernible drop-off, Hofer has been solid recently, winning his last start against the Washington Capitals while losing the previous two – against Stanley Cup contenders Winnipeg and Florida – by a goal apiece.
Asking St. Louis to walk into Dallas and escape with a victory might be slightly aspirational, especially considering the Stars have won four in a row and eight of the last 10 at American Airlines Center. While they might not win, the Blues are playing too well to lose a lopsided game.
There’s always the danger of Dallas scoring an empty-net goal to win by two, but as there’s absolutely no value in backing the Stars on the moneyline at our best sportsbooks, I’m taking my chances on a St. Louis team bursting with confidence.
Best odds: -118 via FanDuel (bet $10 to win $8.47)

The Stars won both meetings this season. However, they were tight, defensive affairs, with Dallas winning 2-1 in overtime and 2-0. That’s one of many reasons I’m backing the Stars to win 3-2.
Correct score odds: +2200 via FanDuel (bet $10 to win $220)
Here is my best Blues vs. Stars player prop bet tonight. You can also check out our NEW NHL player prop odds tool for the latest NHL odds on any market across legal sportsbooks in your region.
Robert Thomas is not used to scoring at the prolific rate at which he’s currently amassing points. Thomas is on a nine-game point streak, notching a helper in each one. He has 13 points since the streak started on Feb. 2 against Utah Hockey Club.
The +132 odds, representing a 43.10% implied probability, make sense if you look at his overarching stats. Thomas has 33 assists in 49 games, a 0.67 assist-per-game clip. But I’m more interested in his recent explosion patch, which has seen him collect apples as consistently as a fruit picker.
Yes, his streak will end soon. I’m just hoping he can extend it for at least one more game, and there’s no reason to suggest he won’t.
Best odds: +132 via bet365 (bet $10 to win $13.20)
