Detroit fans will get a special treat on Sunday, September 21 at 3 p.m., when Van Andel Arena hosts the Detroit Red Wings’ annual Red & White Game.

Before the puck drops, attendees can enjoy a meet-and-greet with former Red Wings greats including Dan Cleary, Kris Draper, Jiri Fischer, Niklas Kronwall, Kirk Maltby, and Darren McCarty (subject to availability).
From 2 to 3 p.m., select alumni will be in the arena concourse signing autographs for fans. Complimentary photo cards will be provided, though guests are encouraged to bring personal memorabilia as well. Each guest may receive one autograph per alumnus.

The on-ice action will be fairly different than a regular game. The unique format consists of two 20-minute periods with stop time and a full intermission. The second period may feature designated power-play and penalty-kill situations for coaches to see players in select situations. After that, the ice will be dry-scraped before a shootout takes place.
The event serves as the conclusion of Detroit’s 2025 training camp, bridging the gap between their time in Traverse City and the start of the NHL preseason.This will be the fifth time Van Andel Arena hosts the Red & White Game, following previous events in 2000, 2002, 2003, and 2011.
