Tickets for the Detroit Red Wings Red and White game on Sunday, Sept. 21 at 3 p.m. at Grand Rapids’ Van Andel Arena are now on sale to the public at griffinshockey.com.
This will be the fifth time the Red Wings have played their preseason intrasquad game in Grand Rapid, but it’s the first time since 2011.
The game is usually played in Traverse City in conjunction with their training camp there. The Grand Rapids location is easier driving for many Red Wings fans. The driving distance from Detroit to Grand Rapids is 158 miles, compared to 258 miles from Detroit to Traverse City.
The game should draw well from the local fan base because several of Detroit’s critical players, including Dylan Larkin, Moritz Seider, Marco Kasper and Simon Edvinsson, played for the Grand Rapids Griffins on their way to the NHL.
Mark your calendar — the @DetroitRedWings are coming to Grand Rapids for one day only.
On Sunday, September 21, at 3 p.m., Van Andel Arena will host the annual Red & White Game, where the biggest names in Hockeytown go head-to-head in a full-team scrimmage.

Some of the players in the game, such as Axel Sandin Pellikka, Amadeus Lombardi, Nate Danielson and Emmitt Finnie, will be playing for the AHL Griffins this season if they don’t make the Red Wings’ roster.
Here are the ticket prices: $28 for upper level crease, $30 for upper level faceoff, $33 for upper level center ice, $34 for upper level preferred, $35 for upper level prime and $37 for upper level edge; and $36 for lower level faceoff, $40 for lower level center ice, $46 for lower level preferred and $63 for lower level glass. (Additional $3 per ticket on game day.) Group ticket packages may be ordered by calling the Griffins’ office at (616) 774-4585 ext. 4 or visiting griffinshockey.com.
The 29-year-old Van Andel Arena, located in downtown Grand Rapids, has a capacity of 10,834 for hockey games.
The Red & White Game is played two 20-minute periods followed by a shootout. Details on special pre-game activities will be revealed in the coming weeks. This game marks the end of the training camp and the start of the Red Wings’ preseason schedule.
