After helping the Ponies reach the Class 2A state title game, Jarvis joins a star-studded group committing to Bob Motzko and the Gophers.

The Gophers men’s hockey team continued its strong week of recruiting on Wednesday when forward Luca Jarvis, who helped Stillwater reach the Class 2A championship game in March, announced on Instagram that he has committed to coach Bob Motzko’s program.
“I am beyond blessed and honored to announce my commitment to play Division 1 hockey and further my education at the University of Minnesota,” Jarvis wrote. “I am extremely grateful for my family, friends, teammates, coaches, advisors, and everyone who has helped me to this point. #gogophs"
Jarvis, 16, is a 6-1, 181-pound right winger who scored 24 goals and added 24 assists in 30 games as a sophomore for Stillwater in the 2024-25 season. He was a standout in the state tournament, collecting four goals and four assists, including two goals and two assists in the Ponies’ 7-6 loss to Moorhead in the Class 2A state championship game.
Jarvis had two assists in five games for the Youngstown Phantoms after the high school season, and he’s slated to play for the USHL team in the 2025-26 season. He likely would join the Gophers in the 2027-28 season.
The commitment of Jarvis follows the Gophers landing brothers Wyatt and Brooks Cullen earlier in the week. Wyatt Cullen, 16, pledged to Minnesota on Monday, and Brooks, 18, followed by rescinding his November commitment to Michigan State and choosing the Gophers on Tuesday. In addition, Motzko and his staff received commitments from Lakeville North center Gunnar Conboy and former Grand Rapids goalie Carter Casey last week.
