“We’re excited to officially announce our 2025–26 schedule,” said head hockey coach Erik Largen. “We’ve built a challenging and competitive slate that will push our group from day one and prepare us for where we want to be in March. It’s a great mix of strong home matchups and tough road tests, and we’re looking forward to seeing the Carlson rocking again with the best fans in college hockey.”

Alaska kicks off its 2025-26 campaign with the Blue/Gold Scrimmage on Sept. 20, held at the Patty Ice Arena at 7:07 p.m. They then play two exhibition games against UNLV and Briercrest College on Sept. 26-27 at the Carlson Center before opening the regular season at home with two contests against Minnesota Duluth on Oct. 3-4. The ‘Nooks went 1-0-1 against the UMD Bulldogs last season, earning a 2-2 tie in game one before grabbing a 2-1 overtime win the following day.

The Nanooks’ first road contest comes a week later with the 2025 Icebreaker Tournament, held at Mullett Arena in Tempe, Ariz. The tournament opens with a showdown against Quinnipiac on Oct. 10, marking the first matchup between the two sides since the 2013-14 season. Game two will feature either Notre Dame or Arizona State. The Blue & Gold return home after their short trip to face off against Michigan Tech for two games the following weekend.

The following week, the Nanooks embark on a three-week road trip, beginning with two contests against Wisconsin on Oct. 24-25, followed by a weekend series at Princeton on Oct. 31-Nov. 1, and finally a single game at Quinnipiac on Nov. 4 in a rematch of the opening game of the Icebreaker Tournament.

After a home exhibition game against Simon Fraser on Nov. 8, the ‘Nooks will take part in the Adirondack Tournament on Nov. 28-29, held at Herb Brooks Arena in the Lake Placid Olympic Center. Alaska will face Clarkson on the first day and St. Lawrence on the second. The Blue & Gold return to the Carlson for one more matchup in 2025, squaring off against Grand Canyon University in another exhibition contest on Dec. 6. Alaska wraps up 2025 with another trip to the Empire State, this time facing Union in a two-game set on Dec. 12-13. They earned a 3-3 tie and a 6-4 win in their two games against the Garnet Chargers last season, coming back from a 3-0 deficit in the first matchup by scoring three goals in the final 10 minutes to force overtime.

The Nanooks stay on the east coast to start the new year, heading over to Rhode Island for two games against the Providence College Friars on Jan. 2-3, and concluding their road trip at Cornell in a two-game series the following weekend.

The squad returns to Fairbanks on Jan. 16-17 to kick off the Alaska Airlines Governor’s Cup with two matchups against Alaska Anchorage at the Carlson Center, beginning a six-game homestand for the Nanooks. They take on Lindenwood (Jan. 23-24) and Long Island (Jan. 30-31) before hitting the road to resume the Governor’s Cup in Anchorage on Feb. 6-7. After a week off, the Nanooks will play two more in Anchorage on Feb. 20-21 and conclude the regular season at home the following weekend, hosting the final two Governor’s Cup games on Feb. 27-28.

On March 5-7, Alaska will take part in the first-ever United Collegiate Hockey Cup at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Mo. All five independent schools will participate: Alaska, Alaska Anchorage, Lindenwood, Long Island, and Stonehill.
