Who’s Got the Edge?
It’s showdown time in Dallas! Between the pipes, we’ve got Dustin Wolf for Calgary and Jake Oettinger for the Stars (projected).
Wolf snagged a win Tuesday, stopping 26 shots in a 6-3 victory over Philly. But let’s be real—his first full NHL season has been a grind. Over his last eight starts? A shaky 2-4-2 record, 2.88 GAA, and .899 SV%. Fatigue could be creeping in.
Meanwhile, Oettinger has been red-hot, winning back-to-back games while turning aside 68 of 73 shots (.932 SV%). He’s 29-13-2 this season with a rock-solid 2.44 GAA. Oh, and Calgary? Dead last in NHL scoring at 2.59 goals per game. Advantage Dallas? You bet.

Calgary’s 4-2 loss to the Oilers dropped their record to 29-23-9. The Flames fell behind early, giving up a goal just 20 seconds into the game. Calgary was the underdog on the puck line, and the total was set at 6.5 goals, with the combined score reaching 6.
After trailing 2-0, the Flames tied it up with goals in the second and third periods. However, the Oilers responded with two more goals, including an empty-netter, to secure the win.
Calgary’s offense registered 31 shots on goal, but only found the net twice in their 4-2 loss to Edmonton. Anthony Mantha scored his fourth goal of the season on a power play, while Yegor Sharangovich added his first goal of the year in the third period.
Tyson Barrie picked up his first assist of the season, with Mikael Backlund earning his fourth. Kevin Bahl also contributed with his fifth assist. The Flames struggled with giveaways, tallying 22 in the game.
Calgary’s defense gave up the first two goals against the Oilers, with both coming in the first period. The Flames tied the game at 2-2 in the third, but they allowed another goal at the 9:50 mark, followed by an empty-netter with just three seconds left. Dan Vladar made 27 saves with a 90% save percentage.
Dallas dropped to 40-19-2 after a 4-2 road loss to the Panthers. The Stars trailed 2-0 before tying it up, but Florida pulled away with two more goals. Dallas entered as underdogs on the puck line, and the total was set at 6.5 goals, with the combined score reaching 6.
Evgenii Dadonov put the Stars on the board with a goal at 8:38 in the second period, and Matt Duchene added another at 8:04 to tie the game. However, the Panthers responded with two more goals, including an empty-netter, to seal the win.
Dallas fired 25 shots on goal but only found the net twice in their 4-2 loss to Florida. Evgenii Dadonov scored his second goal of the season, while Matt Duchene added his seventh. Duchene also picked up his eighth assist on Dadonov’s power-play goal.
The Stars were held scoreless in the first period before netting both of their goals in the second. Dallas had 32 giveaways in the game and finished with 4 assists.
Defensively, the Stars allowed the first goal 5:15 into the first period and another at 8:47 in the second, but they tied the game at 2-2 before giving up two more—one at 2:32 in the third and an empty-netter at 19:00. Casey DeSmith made 21 saves with an 87.5% save percentage, while the defense added 5 takeaways and 26 hits.
If you’re looking for a moneyline bet in this one, we have the Stars coming out on top. However, with the lines sitting at -232, I’d recommend looking to the spread as our projections have the Stars winning by more than one goal.
For a puck line pick, we are going with the Stars to win and cover. Look for the Stars to win this one by multiple goals over the Flames.
When considering the over/under line, which is currently at 6 goals, we believe that this game will go over that threshold, and we recommend wagering on the over.
