The Philadelphia Flyers announced today they have agreed to terms with defenseman Noah Juulsen on a one-year contract worth $900K, and defenseman Dennis Gilbert on a one-year contract worth $875K, according to General Manager Daniel Briere.
Juulsen, 28 (4/2/1997), was drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in 2015, 26th overall, and has gone on to play parts of seven seasons (2017-25) in the NHL with Montreal (2016-19), Florida Panthers (2020-21), and Vancouver Canucks (2021-25). The 6-foot-2, 201-pound defenseman has registered three goals, 14 assists, and 17 points in 157 career-games.
Last season, the 6-foot-2, 201-pound defender appeared in 35 regular season games for the Canucks averaging 16:17 minutes per game under head coach Rick Tocchet.
Additionally, Juulsen spent parts of seven seasons in the American Hockey League with the St. John’s IceCaps (2016-17), Laval Rocket (2017-20), Syracuse Crunch (2020-21), and Abbotsford Canucks (2021-23). He accumulated a total of seven goals, 38 assists, and 46 points in 151 regular season games. He added another nine playoff games in which he put up two assists.
Gilbert, 28 (10/30/1996), was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the third round (91st overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft. He has gone on to play parts of six seasons in the NHL with the Blackhawks (2018-20), Colorado Avalanche (2020-21), Calgary Flames (2022-24), Buffalo Sabres (2024-25), and Ottawa Senators (2024-25). He has registered three goals, 17 assists, and 20 points in 111 career-NHL games.
The 6-foot-2, 216-pound blueliner began the 2024-25 season with Buffalo before being traded to Ottawa at the trade deadline. He recorded six points last season in 29 regular season games while averaging 10:29 minutes per game.
Gilbert has also spent parts of five seasons in the AHL with the Rockford Hogs (2019-20), Colorado Eagles (2020-22), and Calgary Wranglers (2022-23). He has accumulated 15 goals, 42 assists, and 57 points in 188 regular season games.
