The Edmonton Oilers’ recent precipitous descent has seen their Stanley Cup odds take a hit, but there is reason to believe they’re in the midst of a full-fledged recovery.
Meanwhile, the Utah Hockey Club invades Rogers Place on Tuesday (9 p.m. ET, ESPN), more desperate for two points than a toddler for new toys. The Hockey Club is two points behind the Vancouver Canucks for the final wild-card spot.
I focus on Edmonton’s recent improved play in my Utah vs. Oilers predictions, picks, and player props while featuring Evan Bouchard, Connor McDavid, and Clayton Keller.
Here are my best Utah vs. Oilers predictions and player props for tonight’s NHL matchup with my pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale. Be sure to check out the rest of our NHL picks along with our guide on how to bet on NHL.
As of 6 a.m. ET, the Oilers are -170 favorites to beat Utah Hockey Club (+143) in tonight’s game from Rogers Place in Edmonton. I’m predicting the Oilers will beat Utah by at least two goals.
Here are the latest Utah vs. Oilers odds and betting lines from our best live betting sites.
I’ve been waiting two months for the end of the Oilers’ rot. Since Jan. 18, the Oilers are tied with the Nashville Predators for the seventh-worst points percentage (0.477), winning 10 of 22 games.
Five of those 10 wins occurred in the last eight games. Not only are the Oilers starting to win again, but they’re doing it ugly, which is the most promising part of the early stages of recovery.
Edmonton has markedly improved its defensive play, allowing three goals or fewer in five of the last six games. However, the goals have dried up, the only pressing, lingering concern. Kris Knoblauch’s team have netted more than three goals in one of the last 12 games, with the only exception coming at Rogers Place in a recent 5-4 win over the Dallas Stars.
Due to Connor Ingram’s injury, Karel Vejmelka has been a permanent fixture between the pipes for Utah and will most likely make his 11th consecutive start.
Vejmelka has been magnificent, but weariness should take effect soon unless he’s as indefatigable as ChatGPT. I expect the Oilers to light the lamp four times for the second time in 13 games and third straight against Utah Hockey Club, with the Oilers winning either 4-2 or 5-2.
Best bet: Oilers -1.5 (+143 via Caesars)

Bouchard notched just one lonesome assist in the last four games, but don’t let that deter you. It’s not as if the offense has dried up from Bouchard, who scored two goals in the last four games. Before the latest quartet of contests, he posted an assist in three straight.
While his recent offensive output won’t leave your jar agape, I’m drawn to his proficiency at posting helpers in Edmonton, where he has an assist in six straight and eight of the last nine. A few of our best sportsbooks offer -130 odds, carrying a 56.52% probability.
Best odds: -105 via bet365 ($10 to win $9.52)

McDavid is amid an 11-game point streak, which includes four two-point outings. McDavid is enlivened after a sleepy post-4 Nations period, prepared for the playoff push. The probability of this bet paying off is buoyed by Leon Draisaitl’s smoking hot stint, which has seen the German power forward go 18 straight games with at least one point.
Add to those factors McDavid’s historical success against Utah/Arizona and you have yourself a titillating proposition. Captain Clutch scored four points in two games against Utah this season and 19 in the previous 10 against the extinct Coyotes. I don’t love the -105 price, but you can see why it’s in place.

This is a situational pick, as Keller usually enjoys productive shooting outings against the Oilers. He hit the Over on this prop in five of the last six games against the Oilers, including the last three. He enjoyed a productive evening in Vancouver on Sunday, firing five shots on target.
I don’t love that he hit the Under in the previous three contests, but I’m banking on him getting up for this particular matchup as he has so often.
